Friday Fashion Find: CareRing

CareRings were created to protect your engagement ring and wedding bands!

My BFF who has been married for eight years and counting misplaced her wedding band a few years ago and it obviously caused her a considerable amount of angst — but truthfully I think I was more concerned than she was. Said friend took her ring off while doing some housework and the ring didn’t resurface until months later. A former co-worker accidentally washed her engagement ring down the drain. Yikes! Although her hubby was pissed, he eventually purchased a new one for her and their marriage is still in tact. I am willing to bet both of these women wish they had a CareRing to prevent these mishaps.

WBLS Wedding Expo Recap!

Parris Petals: One of the talented vendors Triple B discovered at the recent WBLS wedding expo!

There were somber-skies Saturday morning outside of New York City’s Hotel Pennsylvania. But that weather was no match for the heightened activity on inside. On the 18th floor of the midtown Manhattan hotel, excitement for the WBLS annual Wedding Expo could be felt instantaneously.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted with smiling faces while being ushered into the penthouse suite filled with vendors from all over the The Big Apple (and beyond). Every category from bakers, deejays, photographers, florists and masseuses could be found and a beautifully costumed belly-dancer even worked her skills for one vendor. Trust, if you had no intention of getting married, witnessing the energy during the expo; you were sure to catch the bridal itch. [Read more...]

Fashion Friday: Introducing Bridal Footwear Line, Nael Coce

The Ambi Bridal line from Nael Coce! (l to r: Charm & Eternity)

I recently traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to attend the launch of a fabulous new shoe line, Nael Coce. Nael Coce is the brainchild of PhD (yeah, you read that correctly) student, Sheena Young. Sheena’s mission was to create a line of footwear that was both fashionable and functional. This line actually offers “convertible” shoes — a pair of comfy ballet flats and pumps in one. Kinda genius, right? And there’s a few bridal options, too! [Read more...]

The Road to Mrs. – I Am Not My Hair

Bride-to-be Jene sometimes wears her naturally curly 'do...

I know this is a break from my norm, but this week I would like to expound on another Triple B entry: Wedding Day Hair Drama: Natural Versus Straight. About three years ago I made the decision to get off the “creamy crack” and go natural. I would tell anyone who would listen; my ultimate goal was to have a big Jill Scott afro.  [Read more...]

Wedding Day Hair Drama: Natural versus Straight

Would you rock a curly style like this one on your wedding day?Few topics get Black women to go from 0 to 90 in a mili-second like the talk of hair. When I decided to address the issue of brides wearing their hair kinky, curly, wavy, twisted and in locs for their wedding day I knew I was signing myself up to receive very strong opinions. But reading this post from Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty gave me the final push to post about this pink, striped, polka dot, plaid elephant in the room.
