It has been a long time Triple B. I deliberated long and hard over whether or not to share the reason for my absence. And while it was very hard and extremely personal, it is my hope that by sharing I can help someone else. [Read more...]
Last weekend I enjoyed a fun date at the New York Botanical Gardens. Located in the Bronx, New York, I first discovered this oasis while working in the fashion department at ESSENCE magazine. A gorgeous floral dress story was photographed there and the images were pure eye candy. The finished pages looked as though they were shot in Costa Rica or some other far away land because of the lush greenery and picturesque landscapes. And when I learned that the hidden gem is also a go-to venue for NYC brides in the know, I was even more intrigued. [Read more...]

I’ve preached about the perks of a bride wearing her hair natural — kinky, curly or wavy and without any extentions — on her wedding day. But some brides like their hair fried, dyed and laid to the side with a few tracks sewn in and that is totally their prerogative. Isn’t the beauty of being a woman, especially a Black woman, that our hair is so versatile? I think so. I also think this new line of hair from Indique and reality star turned fashion designer turned socialite Angela Simmons is Triple B worthy. [Read more...]

I have a confession. Although I launched Triple B and have maintained this labor of love for two years and counting; I’m not the Web world’s most tech-savvy blogger. At all. All the more reason for the shock I had at being so excited about Appy Couple when I first discovered them back in April at wedding planner Fallon Carter’s Speed Dating event. Unlike many other wedding planning apps, Appy Couple seems user-friendly, modern and actually fun. Here’s a few things that intrigued me: [Read more...]
Funny lady Niecy Nash recently celebrated her one-year wedding annniversay with handsome hubby Jay Tucker. While some newlyweds eat out at their favorite restaurant or plan a romantic vacay, Nash and Tucker decided to gather all their friends together for an all-out partay! The star-studded bash at the couple’s Los Angeles home included an array of high-profile guests like Brandy, Angela Bassett and her husband Courtney Vance, Lalia Ali and Lisa Leslie. We know Nash is no stranger to fab parties and it’s nice to see that she and Jay enjoy entertaining together now that they’re married. Celebrity or not, fun, food and fellowship with loved ones shouldn’t be taken for granted and these two seem to celebrate this. Take a look at more fab pics from the party:
Welcome to my first official pick of the week! I discovered the above shoe during a recent visit to the Nina showroom in NYC for their fall press preview. I gushed over the plethora of (affordable) bridal accessories during my walk-through — Nina offers everything in the fashion category for the bride but the dress — but these particular shoes especially caught my eye. Someone near and dear to me recently suggested I consider sharing Jamillah and David Lamb’s tome, Perfect Combination: Seven Key Ingredients to Happily Living & Loving Together with Triple B. My initial interest was piqued but I was even more intrigued when I learned the Lambs are also the powerful duo behind the popular long-running off-Broadway play, Platanos Y Collard Greens. Yet what really made me want to feature this book for Marriage Matters was hearing a friend share how inspiring the couple has been to her – she attended the Lamb wedding a decade ago and reveals that their outdoor nuptials were intimate and heartfelt. She confirms that the Lambs not only talk the talk but also walk the walk — sweet!
