Bridgette’s Pick of the Week – A New Way to Thank Your Guests

A Token of Thanks

I recently stumbled across a great lil’ find on Glamour Weddings. Many couples are now using the above cards – or variations of them — to thank their wedding guests. I think they’re pretty neat plus quick and painless for any DIY bride (or groom) to create. The cardstock can of course coordinate with your wedding colors and the words should be tweaked to reflect you and your spouse. You can even add a pic. How pleasantly surprised will your guests be to find this waiting for them at the reception rather than the standard menu card? [Read more…]

Tie the Knot Tuesday…Will Return Next Week!

Throwback Tuesday: Cleo & Lyncoln Dujon -- Triple B's first Tie the Knot Tuesday Couple

Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know you’re salty with me for today’s MIA Tie the Knot Tuesday feature. I apologize, folks. It will return next week for sure. There’s just a lot of Triple B housekeeping stuff going on behind the scenes right now. All good stuff, though.

In the meantime, I have some exciting news to share. The Triple B family is growing and the new — ahem, male (!) — fam member will be introduced formally next month. In preparation for his arrival, tell me what topics you would most like him to address here on Triple B from a male pov: [Read more…]

Fashion Friday: Jenny Packham Bridal

The Amaryllis Style: How sick is this neckline?

Triple B, I have a crush. I stumbled upon Jenny Packham’s 2013 bridal collection this week while doing research for a freelance story. Pure eye candy. The London-based designer has dressed stars like Kerry Washington and Jennifer Hudson on the red carpet. But really it’s her subtle details that have me swooning: the unexpected pleats and usage of lace (lace can be tricky as we have all seen in wedding gowns that resemble Quinceañera dresses) combined with the overall femininity the collection has — those Brits I tell ya. Take a look at more of my faves from the line yourself: [Read more…]

The Road to Mrs. – I’ve Lost 50 Pounds!

Bride-to-be Jene has lost TWO dress sizes in preparation for her big day!

Losing weight for my wedding day and sharing the journey with you was the premise of starting this blog on Triple B. While that may have been the reason for it’s origin, it has morphed into so much more. I have found support, advice and cathartic release here. I have shared, I have cried. I have enjoyed every minute of it. This blog has become so much more than a weight loss chronicle. But with my wedding less than a month away, this week I am returning to the beginning. [Read more…]

Bridgette’s Pick of the Week – Kai Perfume Oil

A Special Scent for Your Big Day

For many brides-to-be searching for the perfect fragrance to wear on their big day is a very important assignment. The scent should seemingly be inviting and long-lasting but not over-bearing. And I imagine something that will make your sweetie want to hold you even tighter is also a requirement. Enter: Kai Perfume Oil. [Read more…]

CONGRATS to Actress Tichina Arnold on Tying the Knot!

Newlywed Bliss: Tichina gets down with her hubby Rico!

Triple B wishes sincere congratulations to veteran actress Tichina Arnold (who many of you affectionately still refer to as Pam from her Martin days) on her recent nuptials! Who did she marry? St. John’s University assistant basketball coach Rico Hines. Tichina, 43, was happily wed at Honolulu’s Oasis Oceanfront Estate, with reportedly 70 guests in attendance. D-Nice flew in for one day to deejay the event and celebrity wedding planner Diann Valentine orchestrated the intimate wedding weekend. Her loving bridal party included Sidra Smith — twin sister of actress Tasha Smith. [Read more…]

Must-See Video: Cute Father Daughter First Dance

This video — shot by the talented folks at Three Ring Weddings — needs no words but I must note that it is extra-touching because the subjects let their true personalities shine through (Like another one of my fave father/daughter first dances). Be sure to tell me your favorite part in the comments after viewing. Enjoy!

The Road to Mrs. – We Got Our Marriage License!

Jene's "road to mrs" is quickly getting shorter!

Okay. It is officially getting real to me. We went to the courthouse, filed our paperwork and left with a tentative marriage license in hand.  In exactly a month from now I will be Mrs. Royshawn Harrison. I honestly wasn’t expecting to be a nervous wreck, but anxiety has reared its head. [Read more…]

No More Drama on Black Bridal Bliss

Yesterday I received an eye-opening email from a longtime Triple B reader who was upset about Monday’s Marriage Matters post on Evelyn and Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson. Read it below: [Read more…]

Bridgette’s Pick of the Week – Fun & Surprising Wedding Gifts

Who wouldn't enjoy this type of spoiling on their honeymoon?

Wanna totally surprise a couple with a wedding gift they won’t soon forget? Purchase a couple’s massage for the newlyweds to redeem on their honeymoon. A colleague recently did this for a couple and she said they were very appreciative and thoroughly surprised. And really…Who wouldn’t be? Couple massages are the bomb-diggity. Depending on the locale, you can even request a poolside or beachfront treatment for ultimate relaxation. [Read more…]

(Not Quite) Tie the Knot Tuesday – Dana & Will

Meet Dana & Will - Engagement Session BLISS!

The talented shutterbug that is Chad Pennington sent these steamy engagement photos my way and I’m excited to share them with Triple B today. The featured nearlywed couple Dana and Will met in junior high school! It’s always nice when couple’s can take it back to where they met for their engagement photos. As you’ll soon witness, Dana and Will’s e-session pics also have a boudoir vibe to them — enjoy! [Read more…]

Marriage Matters Monday: Chad Johnson & Evelyn Lozada DRAMA (UPDATED)

Lights, Camera, ACTION: Chad's mugsot & The couple kissing on their wedding day

As mentioned before, sometimes Triple B covers brides that don’t identify as “Black” simply because it makes sense to for the audience — you. This past weekend, newlyweds Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson and his bride Evelyn Lozada got into some mess that…well, it is just m-e-s-s-y! He was arrested for allegedly headbutting her but later reports were released that she actually headbutted him. Then on Sunday, Johnson was dropped from the Miami Dolphins — a position he just landed and apparently was holding onto with a thread anyway. To make matters worse (as if that is possible) insiders claim this entire altercation stemmed from Evelyn finding a receipt for condoms. Oy vey! [Read more…]

Fashion Friday Find: Plus-Size Lingerie

The attention given to lingerie worn on a bride’s wedding night and honeymoon doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. Although I still think a basic ribbed tank and boy shorts are one of the sexiest things a woman can wear — and I’ve had, ahem, someone cosign this…Regardless of what your feelings are on sexy, lacy and over-the-top lingerie; it is safe to say most people wanna step up their game on their wedding night. Most of us are familiar with the likes of Agent Provocateur, La Perla, Victoria’s Secret and Frederick’s of Hollywood, right? But what about those brides who are larger than a size 12? Who caters to them? [Read more…]

The Road to Mrs. – Family Disappointments & Other Lessons in Wedding Planning

Triple B's Road to Mrs. blogger has become overwhelmed by bridal magazines!

I was met with some disappointment this week. Unlike Shawn, whose family is massive, mine is quite small. I have three brothers and it meant a lot to me to have each of them play a role in my wedding day. My baby brother Trevor is enlisted in the United States Army. We had him slated to be a groomsman in the wedding party. However, because of an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan, not only will he be unable to be in the wedding, but his leave request was denied to even attend. [Read more…]

Bridgette’s Pick of the Week: Cake Pop Escort Cards

Pretty freakin' adorable, right?

This week’s pick is more if an idea than a “thing”. Right now I’m just smitten with using cake pops as escort cards. I know you’re thinking the inclusion of cake pops at weddings isn’t exactly new. And you’re right. But the novel idea as using them as a unique way to demonstrate your escort cards is kinda new…and yummy, too! Interested in using your own version of the above at your next big function can be as simple or as intricate you want. I’ve seen metallic cake pops, cake pops in a gazillion flavors, cake pops that look like they’re wearing a wedding gown and tuxedo — the list continues. Once your cake pop design(s) are finalized, head to Michael’s or your local craft store for the makings of your escort cards that will either be fixated to each cake pop itself or the stick. Have fun with color and shapes. The end result are your guests nibbling on a sweet treat while they find their seats and get prepared to par-tay!

Fashion Friday – J. Crew’s Bow Monde Dress

The Road to Mrs. – My Bachelorette Party Dilemma

Jene and her fiance Royshawn respect each other's opinions on their bachelor/ette festivities.

To Bachelor/Bachelorette party or not to Bachelor/Bachelorette party…That is the question. For some reason this topic strikes strong emotions in my house but not in the way most would think. [Read more…]
