We’re with the Band Newlyweds Jiline and Evans met as vibrant adolescents in high school. “We were both in the marching band,” recalls Jiline. “She was the hard-headed flagette,” Evans shares. Jiline says with a chuckle of her first impression of Evans, “I thought, man this dude loves the band!” She quickly adds, “He was always a gentleman.” Evans was actually attracted to Jilline’s strongwilled demeanor and a bona fide teenage crush ensued.

In Sickness and in Health “I did not make it easy for him for him when we first started dating. I was going through a lot at the time and his timing was just wrong,” admits Jiline about dating Evans as an adult. She playfully adds, “He was so persistent; he did not give up!” Eventually Jiline did give in and gave Evans a real chance. During the course of their relationship however, Jiline became seriously ill which of course put a strain on the couple. “When Jiline got sick we temporarily broke up,” Evans explains. He continues, “I tried everything to win her heart back and finally she gave our relationship another chance.”

Birthday Surprise Once the couple was back on track Evans declared, “I’ve got to make this girl my wife.” So he devised a plan to pop the question to Jiline on her birthday. “I knew we were having dinner for my birthday but when I walked in [restaurant] and saw our immediate families and friends it still didn’t ring a bell until he got down on one knee. I was totally shocked!” recalls Jiline. Evans shares, “I wanted to make that a special day for her.” Jiline happily accepted and the pair’s lives quickly changed. “After the proposal we decided to move in with each other. The stress of paying our bills on time and planning a wedding was not easy but getting to know each other on another level made us stronger,” says Jiline.

Our Destiny Once the planning commenced, the couple enlisted the expertise of Upgrade Events by Ingrid to bring their wedding day vision to life. Ingrid ensured the couple’s wedding day was filled with creative surprises like a custom s’mores bar for guests at the reception. Before 150 guests, Jiline and Evans recited their own wedding vows. “We didn’t write anything down, it was straight from the heart,” brags Jiline. Now that they’re husband and wife, Evans proudly shares he’s most looking forward to “traveling the world together and starting a family.”

Jiline’s Money-Saving Tips for Future Brides

Schedule R&R “Save a day to pamper yourself before the wedding,” suggests Jiline. Often nearlywed couples spend money unnecessarily when they’re frantic and stressed so a time set aside to refocus on what is most important is wise.

Make Invites Count Says Jiline, “Make sure you invite people that care for you and your husband; those who will have a positive influence on both your lives.”

Parental Guidance…NOT “Don’t allow your parents to make their own guest lists!” warns Jiline with a laugh. [Triple B Note: If parents are footing the wedding bill, this tip should be strongly reconsidered.]
