Every December the ultimate authority on all things related to color, Pantone, announces the hot hue of the upcoming year. Yesterday, Pantone declared that emerald (17-5641) will be the “it” color of 2013. The company describes the chosen shade of green as “Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.“
Sooooo, what does this mean to you? Well, you can expect to see green in stores, magazines on billboards and practically everywhere else over the next 365 days. You can also look out for more emerald bridesmaid dresses and don’t be surprised in the saturated green color pops up in bridal decor more soon, too. I personally don’t think emerald is a universally flattering color and can be tricky to pull off, especially for formal occasions. But when folks get it right? It looks right! (It doesn’t hurt that jewel tones tend to pop on brown skin.) Remember how stylishly Tie the Knot Tuesday alum Stephanie inserted emerald into her bridal jewelry? I’m truly looking forward to seeing how Triple B brides interpret this trend for their weddings in the new year.
Are you excited about Pantone’s emerald pick for color of the year 2013? Why/why not?
