Holiday Gift Guide 2014: LUXE Finds

Bridgette Bartlett-Royall
1. Hayworth Jewelry Armoire, $450; – I’m in desperate need of a “grown up” place to properly store all the statement necklaces, chunky rings, huge hoops and more that are currently taking over my dresser. This fits the bill and still gives me room to grow. Plus the antique silver finish is super-chic.

2. Smythson Inspirations and Ideas Premier Notebook, $110; – Yeah, yeah, yeah: I know I can keep notes in my phone. And I do. But nothing takes the place of pen and paper. I’d use this notebook (the 3.5×5.5″ size is so handy) for everything from inspiration sketches to Triple B event ideas and the lemon hue is just my style.

3. Marc by Marc Jacobs Electro Q Slim Wallet, $205; – You know those annoying people who are always digging in the bottom of a colossal handbag for their wallets? I’m one of them. This electric blue wallet will make my life – and the lives of my loved ones — a tad bit easier.

4. Staunton Brass Chess Set Deluxe Package, $649: – Hubby enjoys playing chess and this set would be an upgrade from his current one. Plus, this is so regal it could also serve as a décor item in our home and has the potential to become an heirloom one day.

5.  J.Crew Collection Cashmere Doubleknit Sweater, $298; – All cashmere is not created equal. Trust, I have owned enough pilled sweaters to know. This would truly be an investment since it can easily be paired with everything from skinny jeans to pencil skirts.

6. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 i7, $1,549; – Who wouldn’t appreciate this compact device with dozens of modern capabilities including HD video editing? At a mere 2.4 lbs (!) it can easily be thrown in a purse or tote bag. Here’s hoping Santa splurges for a stylish purple type cover, (additional $129) as well.

7. A weeklong vacation at the Viceroy Resort in the Maldives – prices begin at ~$1,000 per night; – After my unforgettable stay at the Viceroy Sugar Beach Resort in St. Lucia, I’m eager to visit more Viceroy properties. I’ve only heard great things about the Maldives: secluded beaches, delicious dining options, relaxing spas. Paradise awaits…

8. Lollia Wish Bubble Bath, $49; – Most people above the age of 12 will agree an uninterrupted bath is a luxury in and of itself. Why not take it up a notch with this decadent bubble bath? The packaging is gorge and includes real gold leafing. (This pick defines affordable luxury!)

9. Breil Men’s Chronograph Croc Leather Strap Watch, $475; – While created for men, I can envision both sexes rockin’ this hot timepiece. The sophisticated, sleek design is timeless (kinda ironic for a watch, huh?). Furthermore, I’m a sucker for rose gold.

10. Private (At-Home) Chef Services for One Week, about $50 per hour depending on experience and locationI rarely know what to give my mother. I’ve learned experiences rather than things are typically best. Although she’d be anxious about someone else cooking in her kitchen, a week with a personal chef is just the treat for someone to pamper her for a change.

11. Mateo Gold, Onyx and Diamond Parallel Ring Bar$1,250; – This ring is a rare combo: elegant with a touch of edge! It is really a work of art and will become a conversation piece. I also appreciate that the Jamaica, WI born designer Mateo regularly pays homage to his mother.

Like many of you, I’m on a mission to live beneath my means. However, Triple B aims to deliver content that is practical, as well as, aspirational. All of these items were personally picked by moi because I think they’re special in some way – which just might make the price tag justifiable depending on how you budget the rest of the year. Happy Holidays!

  1. Bridgette Bridgette says:

    I didn’t have space for two but I have to add what my fave family holiday tradition is from my adolescent years: As a child, my deceased father bought me a gingerbread house every December. I didn’t like gingerbread (still don’t) but my dad made invaluable sacrifices to give my brother and me experiences during the Christmas season and all year long that he didn’t have in his own childhood.

  2. Bridgette Bridgette says:

    Oh and a few of these items like the wallet and armoire are now on sale! WOO HOO!

  3. I received the Surface Pro 3 for my birthday in October. I am still thanking my husband. It is the best. He doesn’t know it, but he’ll be presented with his very own on December 25th. I will look into # 10. I guess I always assumed that this would be super expensive.

  4. Bridgette Bridgette says:

    @Kim – Great to hear that you’re enjoying the Surface Pro 3. My own laptop can use an upgrade so we’ll see (it’s also a tax write-off — HA!)…Regarding #10 – My mother cooked for other people when she first moved to NYC because she saw it as a means to an end and a quick way to escape the rural, Jim Crow south. She wanted to experience life beyond her small town and create brighter opportunities for herself and her future family. And she succeeded. A week with a personal chef is something I hope I can treat her to one day. God knows she’s still going above and beyond for my brother and me (and now her grandchildren) — so it is a gift worth the splurge for sure. Plus it’s probably not as expensive as most would assume considering how much you can pay for dinner at a fancy restaurant.

  5. I have enjoyed the several holiday gift specials for the past few days. Between your website and the hints left around my home, I think I already know every item I will purchase. Thank you and keep up the good work. My husband received # 4 last year and hasn’t stopped bragging about me yet.

    Great picks Bridgette! I’m a sucker for a fabulous notebook (it’s one of the few things I hoard-don’t judge me). So the Smythson notebook is definitely on my wish list. And the Mateo New York ring is gorgeous! I need that in my life:-)

  7. Avatar Indigo White says:

    With this weather that trip sounds amazing!

  8. There is one thing on this list that really want. I mean REALLY WANT.

  9. @Shakina – I’m happy to hear you’ve found the HGG helpful! There was certainly a lot of thought and time put into it so I appreciate that feedback.

    @Mondella – Thanks! Yep, even with all these nifty digital devices, nothing beats a pretty notebook. (I happen to think most creative types are this way. ;-)

    @Indigo – Okay?!

    @CM – ;-)

  10. I second! I think #TeamTripleB deserves a trip to the Maldives! Great luxe picks Bridgette!
