Goodbye wine. Goodbye tacos. Goodbye choco – wait, cheat days exist, no? Apparently, not, especially when #buffbride is the mission and the mission must be complete in roughly 90 days…but who’s counting? Even more of a looming deadline is my dress fitting scheduled in about 4 days…again, no one really counting here… [Read more…]
If it wasn’t really real before, it’s real now. 1000% real. 100 days and counting until we exchange our “I dos”. Excited? Absolutely. Ready? Emotionally — no doubt. Ready as far as wedding planning is concerned? Let’s talk about it. [Read more…]
The union of two people, two independent individuals with their own set of values, morals, and ideas about finances, marriage, and children, can lead to an extremely successful union or one that is destined to fail — sometimes very early on. Understanding that a marriage continues beyond the wedding day, we knew early on that we would seek premarital counseling.
After two days of smelling roses and pricing candelabras, it was time to taste some cake! Cake tasting, albeit, not the best for my waistline, has certainly been one of the more enjoyable aspects of wedding planning. For our cake tastings, my planner Christina lined up two appointments. Our first tasting was held at a popular upscale bakery with several locations throughout Los Angeles specializing in wedding cakes and other decadent desserts. Upon arrival, we met with one of the bakers who handed us a book of various cake flavors and told us to go at it. [Read more…]
In a previous post, I discussed the importance of wedding planning visits when planning a destination wedding. Last week, I spent 3 days in sunny Los Angeles with my Mom, daughter and wedding planner to do nothing but wedding plan…well, kinda, except for when we put on our tourist hats and since it was Ava’s Spring Break, checked off all of her “to-dos” from her list, which was a list of random, but dope, sights to see. But, for the most part, we were knee deep in wedding planning. [Read more…]
Wedding registries can be tremendously helpful and are much needed for many couples. Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdale’s, Target, Amazon and seemingly almost every major retailer and department store have options for couples to create wedding registries. You can even set up a registry where your guests can contribute to helping you get to your honeymoon destination! Long gone are the days of dragging an unenthused groom into Macy’s to register for dinnerware and kitchen appliances since wedding registries can also be completed online, with just click — or two or three. Brides (and grooms, but, definitely brides) can register to their heart’s desire, or at least until the registry is complete a variety of pots and pans, glassware, gold plated, engraved silverware, fancy china, Keurig’s, Vitamix blenders, and luggage. Oh, and then you can ask for gift cards, to just about anywhere in the Universe.
I’ve attended a lot of weddings. I’ve been a participant in several weddings. I remember beautiful weddings, great receptions with good music, good drinks and good food. Just as I can remember bad music, bad food and bad wedding guest behavior resulting from the great reception with good music, good drinks and good food – mostly because of the drinks, I digress, but what I don’t recall about any wedding that I have attended, been invited to or been part of is the couple’s wedding invitations. Oh, Pinterest. It’s easy, addictive and a seemingly unlimited resource for um, everything! The fact that it allows you to create “secret” boards (which is perfect for planning your wedding even before you have a steady boo) is more than enough reason to looooove it!
The downside, when it comes to planning a wedding, [Read more…]
So, we decided to have a wedding in a city that is over 1,800 miles away from our home. Apparently, a year long, long distance relationship wasn’t enough for the kid – I needed more distance and distance I got. Destination sunny Cal-i-forn-ia – beautiful weather, great beaches, tacos, yes tacos – everything that makes this bride smile. However, my smile started to fade when I realized [Read more…]
Six months after selecting my gown, I received the call from the bridal salon that my gown was in and ready for me to view and try on. Eeek! Super excited to see the gown that I fell in love with the moment I tried it on. On the other hand, the holidays were gooooood to me! So good in fact, that I was nervous that my dress would absolutely not fit! [Read more…]
I’ll admit, I was totally that girl who was thinking about her engagement pictures even before she was engaged. I’m lying! – Even before I was dating my fiancé, I was taking screenshots of cute engagement photos that came across my Facebook and Instagram accounts, I may have even [Read more…]
…Then Comes Marriage, Then Comes Baby in the Baby Carriage
For the record, only marriage is coming for me — I’m so not pregnant. I know I’m going to have at least one Facebook message, a couple of phone calls and a few texts from folks who just read the title of this post without reading the post in its entirety. I can guar.an.tee. [Read more…]
Doscientos. 199 + 1. 100 x 2. Any way you slice it, it’s still the same — 200 days. Yasss, honey, that good ole’ app from The Knot reminded me that I am rapidly approaching with great anxiety excitement that my wedding is a little over 6 months away! [Read more…]
So, there’s this saying: “Fail to plan is planning to fail”. All truth. I guess failing to plan a wedding is a major fail — especially if you want a wedding that is like IG worthy or like one of those on YouTube or Vimeo with the titles and John Legend track playing throughout. I digress. Back to planning. [Read more…]
In Part I of this post, I began my wedding gown search with the help of my mom, aunt, daughter and two of my best high school girlfriends. After trying on several dresses at the urging of my crew, I finally found a dress that I absolutely loved. The dress was exactly what I thought I wanted. [Read more…]
Wedding dress shopping. Oh. My.
I was certain I was adequately prepared for wedding dress shopping. I mean all of those Friday nights I spent binge watching TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress – how could I not know what dress I wanted? I may have mentioned before that I was serial bridesmaid. 27 Dresses anyone? [Read more…]
