Newlywed Bliss: Tichina gets down with her hubby Rico!

Triple B wishes sincere congratulations to veteran actress Tichina Arnold (who many of you affectionately still refer to as Pam from her Martin days) on her recent nuptials! Who did she marry? St. John’s University assistant basketball coach Rico Hines. Tichina, 43, was happily wed at Honolulu’s Oasis Oceanfront Estate, with reportedly 70 guests in attendance. D-Nice flew in for one day to deejay the event and celebrity wedding planner Diann Valentine orchestrated the intimate wedding weekend. As mentioned before, sometimes Triple B covers brides that don’t identify as “Black” simply because it makes sense to for the audience — you. This past weekend, newlyweds Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson and his bride Evelyn Lozada got into some mess that…well, it is just m-e-s-s-y! He was arrested for allegedly headbutting her but later reports were released that she actually headbutted him. Then on Sunday, Johnson was dropped from the Miami Dolphins — a position he just landed and apparently was holding onto with a thread anyway. To make matters worse (as if that is possible) insiders claim this entire altercation stemmed from Evelyn finding a receipt for condoms. Oy vey! [Read more...]

Funny lady Niecy Nash recently celebrated her one-year wedding annniversay with handsome hubby Jay Tucker. While some newlyweds eat out at their favorite restaurant or plan a romantic vacay, Nash and Tucker decided to gather all their friends together for an all-out partay! The star-studded bash at the couple’s Los Angeles home included an array of high-profile guests like Brandy, Angela Bassett and her husband Courtney Vance, Lalia Ali and Lisa Leslie. We know Nash is no stranger to fab parties and it’s nice to see that she and Jay enjoy entertaining together now that they’re married. Wedding Planning Lessons from a Billionaire Bride

Once in a blue, an event takes place in popular culture that just has to get discussed here on Triple B, even if the bride isn’t identified as Black. The latest such event would be the nuptials of tech tycoon Mark Zuckerberg and his college sweetheart of nine years, Priscilla Chan. I’m sure you’re aware that Zuckerberg — a founder of Facebook which officially went public last week — is the youngest billionaire in the world. The Harvard University dropout wed Chan, who just graduated from the University of California at San Francisco’s medical school and has plans to become a pediatrician, in a modest ceremony in the couple’s backyard. Of course the word modest is relative but in comparison to some folks who don’t have nearly as much money as Zuckerberg (ahem Kim Kardashian), these two kept it low-key and simple.

NEW MUST – SEE Wedding Trailer!

I stumbled across this jaw-dropping video yesterday on Facebook and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys. I’ve seen a lot of wedding trailers and this was the first one that left me at a lost for words. The venue of Abbaye de Cernay in Paris is majestic, the bride’s gowns are exquisite and the overall cinematography is sick. And most importantly, the bride Stephanie Okereke and groom Linus Idahosa look so happy! After a little research I learned that the bride is apparently a pretty famous Nollywood (that’s the Hollywood of Nigeria for those out the loop) actress and the groom Linus is a global media consultant who also hails from Nigeria. The two wed on April 21, 2012. Congrats to them and enjoy the video.

Oh and P.S. – Before you go rolling your eyes and counting up how much money the couple spent on their nuptials, just remember they didn’t ask any of us for financial assistance to create the wedding day they wanted. I admit the day seemed a little over the top but it is enjoyable to watch and I truly feel most brides-to-be can be inspired by something in this video, regardless of their budget.

High School Sweethearts LeBron James & Savannah Brinson Are Getting Hitched!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Triple B is starting off 2012 just right with this news: Bridal bliss is in order for Savannah Brinson, longtime girlfriend of NBA superstar LeBron James. James proposed to Brinson, his high school sweetheart and the mother of the couple’s two sons, on New Year’s Eve in Miami’s South Beach at SL nightclub during a private bash that doubled as his birthday party.

Both James and Brinson were in the bridal party last fall for LA Clipper’s point guard Chris Paul’s wedding to his college sweetheart Jada. While covering the star-studded nuptials, I observed the couple throughout the wedding weekend and got the impression that they’re the real deal. LeBron’s toast to Chris and Jada during the couple’s rehearsal dinner quietly revealed that he seemed to be ready to jump the broom himself. (Fun Fact: Savannah and I briefly chatted about ways to keep our waistlines tight and although she clearly has access to the best trainers and chefs in the world — and I do not — I felt like I was talking to an old girlfriend.) The Pauls & Me!

I’ve been itching to share this with you guys and the time is finally here! My former employer ESSENCE magazine tapped moi to cover the nuptials of NBA superstar Chris Paul and his wife Jada. You can check out the story in the November 2011 issue on pages 61-62 and over on Essence.com in their Bridal Bliss Wedding of the Week. (Be sure to watch the video, too.) This assignment admittedly caused me quite a bit of angst. Why? Well, while I’ve interviewed dozens of celebs in the past — from Heidi Klum to Steve Harvey — covering the Paul wedding was extra-special because it marked the first celebrity bridal-related story I nailed since launching Triple B. The stakes were high. Thankfully Chris and Jada couldn’t have been a more down-to-Earth couple. Once I calmed down and treated the story like a typical Tie the Knot Tuesday feature, I was just fine. Traveling to Charlotte, NC to cover the star-studded affair was technically work yet the entire wedding weekend felt like hanging out with family. Seriously.
