The Road to Mrs. – Priorities While Wedding Planning

Our resident bride-to-be Nicole was wowed by this chic Southern California venue for her wedding.

It was early in the planning process when I found out that I’d have to set priorities when it came to spending.  In order to stay in budget, I would not be able to splurge on every detail. I’d have to find savings here and there and be willing to compromise.

The most important thing to making my day great would be the venue and the food, [Read more...]

The Road to Mrs. – Bridesmaids, DIY & Bonding, Oh My!

Triple B's resident bride-to-be Nicole (right) and her cousin and maid of honor Jana are happy DIYers!

My cousin and maid of honor Jana, recently graduated from college. With a degree in drama and her eyes set on becoming an actress, she relocated to Los Angeles. Leonard and I agreed to allow Jana to live with us short term while she established herself in L.A. I quickly came with ideas on how she could earn her room and board. With just a few weeks until the wedding, I had several DIY projects that I’d saved with the expectation of having free labor. Jana was barely in the door before I mentioned my plans to put her to work. She was more than eager to help and jumped right in. [Read more...]

The Road to Mrs. – How I Chose My Wedding Colors

Resident bride-to-be Nicole was generally uninspired by the color combos featured in her bridal mags so she decided to go with a chic and simple black and white palette.

The first thing I did when I started the planning process was to decide on a color scheme and a theme.I immediately knew that I wanted an evening wedding full of romance and candle light.  I’m also a fan of all things modern and classic. My venue fit my personality and my vision perfectly. Next to a beach, my wedding will be full of ocean views, sunsets and romance…a few of my favorite things.

When deciding on a color scheme, I had a bit of a trickier time.  [Read more...]

The Road to Mrs. – Wedding Fashion for My Grandparents

Triple B's excited bride-to-be Nicole is making sure her family is dressed to the nines for her wedding day!

Triple B's resident bride-to-be Nicole is making sure that her family is wardrobe-ready for the big day!

In true control freak fashion, I insisted in being a part of the wedding wardrobe selection process for my parents. My parents, wanting nothing to do with a bridezilla moment, put up no fight. My grandmother even recommended I help to avoid any problems if she chooses incorrectly. With that sole purpose in mind, I booked a trip from Los Angeles to Kansas City. [Read more...]

The Road to Mrs. – Choosing My Wedding Shoes

The "Hilary" style by Badgley Mischka is a moderate shoe option for a stylish, contemporary bride.

I’m a huge gift person. I love to give and receive. I knew gift giving was my love language without even taking the quiz. Leonard knows this about me, and as much as he tries to deny me gifts, when it really counts he always comes through. So I was beyond ecstatic when right after I picked out my wedding dress he told me that his wedding gift to me would be my wedding shoes! I immediately started searching for the perfect pair. The Road to Mrs. – I’m Excited to Change My Last Name!

Triple B's resident bride-to-be Nicole can't wait until she and her fiance Leonard share the same last name.

For the last 20 years, I’ve been getting pressure from my paternal grandfather to change my last name. My parents were not married when I was born, so I was given my mother’s maiden name. My grandfather has made it very clear that he prefers for me to have my father’s name. He’s even gone so far as to tell me that if I don’t change my name I will not be getting any inheritance from him. Our most recent conversation was a little over a year ago. He stated that since I was an adult now I could go to the courthouse myself and change my name without my parent’s consent. I politely informed my grandfather that I had recently relocated for Leonard and predicted that I’d soon be taking his last name. He suggested that I hyphenate, I laughed out loud.   [Read more...]
