Don’t believe the headline? Just watch for yourself below. Oh and word on the street is that the couple, who has had their relationship under quite a bit of scrutiny since getting engaged, also mailed out traditional paper save-the-dates with a heart motif back in May. Smart to have both just in case some folks — i.e. Nana and ‘em — aren’t feeling the digital correspondence for such an important day. [Read more...]
Remember this awesome Los Angeles e-session with Brett and Sonia? Well, now the creative pair are sharing their adorable proposal video with Triple B. Brett went all out and Sonia was genuinely surprised at some of the folks her sweetie managed to recruit to help make the day even more memorable sans any saccharin sweetness that will make you wanna throw up. (That’s not an easy balance to pull off!) The fun and heartwarming proposal took place during homecoming weekend at Sonia’s alma mater, Tuskegee University.
Enjoy, folks! [Read more...]
It was early in the planning process when I found out that I’d have to set priorities when it came to spending. In order to stay in budget, I would not be able to splurge on every detail. I’d have to find savings here and there and be willing to compromise.
Psst. Searching for a last-minute getaway with your girls to celebrate an upcoming marriage? Well, the 3rd Annual Bachelorette Party at the sexy TAO in Las Vegas is scheduled to take place this weekend, July 11-13. Touted as the World’s Largest Bachelorette Party, [Read more...]
My cousin and maid of honor Jana, recently graduated from college. With a degree in drama and her eyes set on becoming an actress, she relocated to Los Angeles. Leonard and I agreed to allow Jana to live with us short term while she established herself in L.A. I quickly came with ideas on how she could earn her room and board. With just a few weeks until the wedding, I had several DIY projects that I’d saved with the expectation of having free labor. Jana was barely in the door before I mentioned my plans to put her to work. She was more than eager to help and jumped right in. [Read more...]
The first thing I did when I started the planning process was to decide on a color scheme and a theme.I immediately knew that I wanted an evening wedding full of romance and candle light. I’m also a fan of all things modern and classic. My venue fit my personality and my vision perfectly. Next to a beach, my wedding will be full of ocean views, sunsets and romance…a few of my favorite things.
When deciding on a color scheme, I had a bit of a trickier time. [Read more...]
In true control freak fashion, I insisted in being a part of the wedding wardrobe selection process for my parents. My parents, wanting nothing to do with a bridezilla moment, put up no fight. My grandmother even recommended I help to avoid any problems if she chooses incorrectly. With that sole purpose in mind, I booked a trip from Los Angeles to Kansas City. [Read more...]
New York couple Lauren and Frantz are scheduled to wed on a Caribbean beach hence their decision to have part of their e-session on…wait for it…a beach! In addition, the fun duo headed to a sneaker store for the second part of their photo session because that’s how they met. Cute, right?! Lauren actually worked at shoe store and now Frantz has his own sneaker and apparel company. Enjoy their pics!
Although it may seem trite, sometimes a picture — or in this case a video — is truly worth a thousand words. There’s not a lot of commentary needed. Enjoy, folks! [Read more...]
I’m a huge gift person. I love to give and receive. I knew gift giving was my love language without even taking the quiz. Leonard knows this about me, and as much as he tries to deny me gifts, when it really counts he always comes through. So I was beyond ecstatic when right after I picked out my wedding dress he told me that his wedding gift to me would be my wedding shoes! I immediately started searching for the perfect pair. For the last 20 years, I’ve been getting pressure from my paternal grandfather to change my last name. My parents were not married when I was born, so I was given my mother’s maiden name. My grandfather has made it very clear that he prefers for me to have my father’s name. He’s even gone so far as to tell me that if I don’t change my name I will not be getting any inheritance from him. Our most recent conversation was a little over a year ago. He stated that since I was an adult now I could go to the courthouse myself and change my name without my parent’s consent. I politely informed my grandfather that I had recently relocated for Leonard and predicted that I’d soon be taking his last name. He suggested that I hyphenate, I laughed out loud. [Read more...]
The last few weeks not much wedding planning has been happening. Invitations were sent and now I’m just waiting on RSVPs to trickle in. All of my vendors have been selected. The menu is set. Flowers have been chosen. Photographer, DJ, musicians, hair & make-up are all on lock. Rentals and timelines have been completed. Leonard ordered his tuxedo and the bridal party has their attire picked out. My dress is being altered. So now I find myself with little to do planning wise. I learned from working in a hospital that we never say “it’s slow” as things will quickly turn around. So with that in mind I won’t say I’m finished planning, what I will say in that I’m enjoying the calm before the storm. A much needed calm as my work life has definitely been busy. [Read more...]
Las Vegas is one of my favorite playgrounds! I’ve been several times with multiple groups of friends, and during every visit I’ve had a blast. I would like to think the common denominator was me. So when the crew said they needed a girl’s trip before my wedding, a bachelorette party in Vegas only made sense. Naturally the planning commenced. Dates were set, invitations sent and bikini body workouts began. I was excited and ready to go. [Read more...]
Traditional wedding etiquette suggests no one get invited to a bridal shower that isn’t invited to the wedding. Although I’m not big on subscribing to archaic traditions, this is a “rule” that makes sense to me and most of those I would imagine reading this post. However, I’ve lost count of the number of people who have come to me complaining about receiving an invite to a bridal shower but not the wedding itself. They typically feel slighted. So… [Read more...]
