Recently my fiance and I spent the weekend out of town and had the opportunity to catch up with old friends. Ironically, our time was split almost in half between married friends and single amigos. We had a great time from beginning to end. I’d like to think Mr. TK and I are pretty discerning when it comes to our friendships and we greatly value all of them — those who have already said “I Do” or not. However, some people claim we should begin thinking otherwise. [Read more...]

Cousin Mars – Ultimatums…Do They Work?
Cousin Mars posts typically go up on the last Friday of the month but got pushed back a little last week because of Triple B’s 3rd Anniversary celebration! This is a touchy one, y’all. I look forward to reading your feedback (whether you agree or disagree) in the comments.
Ultimatums in romantic relationships are often joked about. In fact, many people in my circle have been on the receiving end. As I get older (not old, just older) I find more and more associates sharing stories of some pretty bold ultimatums. These have ranged from cohabitating, marriage, having children and a myriad of others. As recent as two weeks ago, while interviewing for a Triple B post last week, I was told about an ultimatum that led to a proposal. [Read more...]

Celebrity Wedding News: Tia Mowry & Cory Hardrict Vow Renewal

This morning I stumbled across breathtaking vow renewal pictures of acting husband – wife duo Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict. I sorta developed a slight girl crush (am I allowed to admit that?!) on Tia — who my fiance insists on calling Girl Melanie, only fans of The Game will get that, after interviewing her for a PEOPLE magazine story. She truly seems like good people — a doting wife, mother, sister, ambitious about her career and regularly admits that she’s still trying to figure out how to balance it all. Tia and Cory will officially celebrate five years of wedded bliss on April 20th. (There’s lots of anniversaries to celebrate next week, huh?) Triple B wishes them many more years of health and happiness. Enjoy the pics! [Read more...]
Marriage Matters Monday – What’s in a Name?
I recall how much angst one of my girlfriends went through after she got married and didn’t want to change her last name right away. She eventually hyphenated it but she put it off as long as possible. Her husband was not amused. The pair is (seemingly) happily married and even joke about my friend’s name change delay now but my friend experienced much more separation anxiety than she thought she would. I’ve since heard many women share similiar sentiments about the emotional challenges of changing their name after saying “I Do”. Crazy or common? [Read more...]

Final Fridays with Cousin Mars – Husband Material
Is it after one year? Is it after he introduces you to mom? How about when he is comfortable enough to say “I love you” in the presence of his friends? Oh yeah…this one is good…what about after he gives you a key to his place? Having many close friends of the opposite sex, I’ve been amazed at the types of clues some women looked for to determine if their significant other was indeed ready for marriage. Being a dude that has been on more than just a few dates (____ READ HERE ____), I can tell you that none of the previously mentioned clues is enough to think that he is ready for that leap.
