Sitting Pretty: Triple B TAY Skincare Winner Jacqueline Royall

Happy Monday! Today, Triple B announces another happy giveaway winner. Jacqueline Royall of New York City is the recipient of those two awesome beauty products in the TAY skincare giveaway first mentioned a couple weeks back. Royall, who favors a diet full of organic fruits and veggies and void of meat is delighted with her Clean Orange Soap and Youthful Eye Treatment because she avoids products with sulfates and/or parabens. And just what was her winning response to the giveaway question about incorporating something green/eco-friendly into a wedding day you’re wondering? Check it out:

“I think an excellent way for someone to make their wedding day eco-friendly is by donating leftover reception food to City Harvest or a similar organization for the hungry and homeless. Or, a couple could ask their reception venue to compost as much as the trash from the event as possible,” shares Royall.

Sharing is indeed caring. Join Triple B in congratulating Jacqueline Royall and stay tuned for more exciting giveaways on BlackBridalBliss.com in the near future.

Remember that awesome giveaway announced a couple weeks back with haircare company, Mizani? Well, we have a winner. Her name is LaKisha Coles and she resides in Roanoke, Virginia. Here’s a very happy LaKisha holding her four (!) Mizani products that she won for being the first person to correctly respond to this question: Tell me the name of the natural hairstylist first interviewed on Triple B about wedding day hair. (Hint: She’s based in Arizona.) The answer of course is Arlette Pender of Hairlocs by Arlette.

Triple B giveaway winner LaKisha with her Mizani hair products!

Join me in congratulating LaKisha! And stay tuned for even bigger giveaways from Triple B in the coming weeks.

Mizani's display at the recent WBLS Wedding Expo in New York City.

Bride-to-be Jene sometimes wears her naturally curly 'do...

I know this is a break from my norm, but this week I would like to expound on another Triple B entry: Wedding Day Hair Drama: Natural Versus Straight. About three years ago I made the decision to get off the “creamy crack” and go natural. I would tell anyone who would listen; my ultimate goal was to have a big Jill Scott afro.  [click to continue…]

Wedding Day Hair Drama: Natural versus Straight

Would you rock a curly style like this one on your wedding day?Few topics get Black women to go from 0 to 90 in a mili-second like the talk of hair. When I decided to address the issue of brides wearing their hair kinky, curly, wavy, twisted and in locs for their wedding day I knew I was signing myself up to receive very strong opinions. But reading this post from Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty gave me the final push to post about this pink, striped, polka dot, plaid elephant in the room.

Bridal Beauty: Wedding Day Hair

Actress Keke Palmer is flawless in this wedding day ready hairdo!

Keke Palmer is one of those actresses I feel is underrated in Hollywood. Besides her acting chops, I’m partial to Miss Palmer because I met her a few years back while working at Essence and in addition to being talented she’s a sweetheart. So it is no surprise that when I viewed these adorable images of her on the red carpet, I immediately gushed. Keke opted to rock this look for the premiere of her last film Joyful Noise but it can totally work for a bride on her wedding day, too.

Your bridesmaids will thank you!

Most brides struggle with the decision of what to give their bridal party as a token of appreciation. And for good reason, these women (and in some cases men) have likely cried with you, laughed with you and hopefully threw you an unforgettable bachelorette party and bridal shower. The list of items that work as possible bridesmaids gifts is virtually endless but I recently discovered one more. To put it frankly Triple B, Voluspa Ceramic Macaron Candles are the ish!

Bridal Beauty Booty!

Triple B is in the press again! Yes, this is a shameless plug but danggit I’m proud. I was the market editor and writer of a piece entitled Marriage Material that appears in the current (August 2011) issue of JUICY magazine. There are a dozen or so beauty products featured, all items to help the bride-to-be get beautified on her big day. Click on the image to see an enlarged version. Enjoy and be sure to leave me a comment with the products you like (or want to try) the most.

And a big shout to makeup artist AJ Crimson who came through at the 11th hour for this story. His lip gloss line with Keisha Whitaker, Kissable Couture, is one of my faves.

FYI…I also pen the Iconic Hair page for JUICY every month.
