Tie the Knot Tuesday SPECIAL – Real Brides Share Their Money Saving Tips
Since the last Triple B “Real Brides Share Money Saving Wedding Planning Tips” special, I started preparing for my own nuptials. Now, helping brides get the most bang for their bridal buck is even more of a priority (and I didn’t think that was possible) because I am seeing first hand how easy it can be to overspend when planning one’s own wedding. An extra $200 here, $75 for that and $300 here adds up quickly. This is an event attached to so much emotion, so it is easy to become disillusioned into thinking that the perfect wedding will lead to the perfect marriage. [Trust me, marketers prey on this fact.] Since overspending in some areas is almost inevitable for most brides, why not take tried and true advice from other women on how to at least minimize or balance things out a bit? Take notes!
(Not Quite) Tie the Knot Tuesday – Bridgette & Mr. TK
Last month my fiance and I took engagement pictures in our New York City stomping grounds. We chose the talented Kesha Lambert to capture the pics. The equally talented Charlene Armstrong did my make-up (I really like how she made my eyes pop!). My fiance — who I’m lovingly referring to as Mr. TK in this post — and I decided to take most of our e-session pics in and around The Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park, located in Inwood, NY. Inwood is just a stone’s throw away from Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan. The Cloisters are in my top fave places in The Big Apple partly because it isn’t on the radar of most folks the way Central Park is and I happen to like that. Fort Tryon Park is also where Mr. TK took me for what I thought was an impromptu date the day he proposed so it will always hold a special significance to us as a couple. I had a really hard time narrowing down selects for today’s (Not Quite) Tie the Knot Tuesday feature. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed taking them.

Tie the Knot Tuesday – Weddings with Unique Cultural Touches
By now we (hopefully) all know the historical and cultural significance of jumping the broom during a wedding ceremony. However, it isn’t the only way for those of the African Diaspora to show their cultural appreciation during a wedding. Below is a round-up of past Tie the Knot Tuesday couples that found creative ways to inject a little dose of culture into their big day. Enjoy and be inspired! [Read more...]
Tie the Knot Tuesday (THROWBACK) – Nana & Akinola
This week’s Tie the Knot Tuesday is a flashback wedding trailer! Although the couple Nana and Akinola wed over three years ago, everything in this trailer is still relevant. As a planning bride myself, I find this inspiring because selecting decor, fashion and music for a timeless wedding trailer seems easy but is not an easy feat. Also take note of the couple’s inclusion of their African backgrounds (the bride is Ghanian and the groom Nigerian) at the end. Enjoy this treat and leave me a comment with your fave part of the video. [Read more...]
