Raised by married parents, a college graduate, pursuing a master’s degree and the owner of a pretty smile. Doesn’t that make me the perfect package? My relationship reality didn’t become clear until I began to scroll through my Insta (gram) timeline and notice many of my female classmates had either been recently married or engaged. For a moment I laughed at those girls. My first thought was, “Y’all are crazy!” Did your mother not teach you as mine did; to “Do You!” before settling down? In other words: Travel, party, live alone, and kiss a few frogs? [Read more...]

The dynamic duo wed in their home city of Miami at the Chateau Artisan castle in a black-and-white themed affair. The bride’s BFF Essence Atkins served as the couple’s officiant. The newlyweds were adamant about not having a traditional wedding party, however, celeb buddies such as Carmelo and LaLa Anthony, Chris and Jada Paul and Kevin Hart were in attendance. [Read more...]
The first thing I did when I started the planning process was to decide on a color scheme and a theme.I immediately knew that I wanted an evening wedding full of romance and candle light. I’m also a fan of all things modern and classic. My venue fit my personality and my vision perfectly. Next to a beach, my wedding will be full of ocean views, sunsets and romance…a few of my favorite things.
When deciding on a color scheme, I had a bit of a trickier time. [Read more...]

I’m a huge gift person. I love to give and receive. I knew gift giving was my love language without even taking the quiz. A year ago, Leonard and I packed up and moved to Los Angeles. With no friends or family in town we spent most of our time together and became best friends. So when we got engaged, my initial thought was this day should be about us and us alone…no wedding party (yes, my narcissism flared up). With my wedding being small and intimate, it was already the case that everyone there was special to us. All of my friends would be traveling to LA and I didn’t want to burden them with the additional cost associated with being a bridesmaid. It was Leonard who convinced me otherwise. He had already decided that he wanted to have his lifelong friends at his side. They’d all been best friends since grade school and shared all of their life experiences together. To him, this was no exception. [Read more...]
