Black Bridal Bliss – The Point of It All

Triple B's Tie the Knot Tuesday alums Stephanie & Delano!

Just when I get frustrated by life’s inevitable tests, I receive an email like the one excerpted below. The unsolicited heartfelt message below was emailed to me from a regular Triple B reader/visitor in Maryland. It almost brought me to tears. I’ve always felt this site was about more than weddings. So much more…And clearly this woman agrees. [Read more...]

My Road to Mrs. – Facing A Fatherless Wedding

Bride Kenna and her father the first time he saw her in wedding gown. He said it made him think about the day she was born.

Since my last post about my upcoming wedding, my fiance and I have made some small yet significant progress. We’ve narrowed down the area we want our nuptials to take place and our wedding day budget plus we zeroed in on a time frame. We’re also continuing those sometimes challenging conversations about combining finances and being truthful about our expectations after exchanging I Do. There’s still lots to do physically and emotionally but we’re both up for it and enjoying the ride.

However there’s one wedding planning element that is probably the most personal and I’m thinking about it more these days. I don’t think I’ve mentioned in my two + years of maintaining Triple B but my father is deceased. He passed away in my teen years. Before he did we were very close. [Read more...]

(Not Quite) Tie the Knot Tuesday – I’m Engaged!

Me and the love of my life about two hours before he popped the question.

Those of you who follow Triple B on Twitter might already know that this past weekend, I got engaged. And those of you who have been following Triple B here know that I rarely ever mention my personal relationship on this site. I’m a pretty private person. But I came to the conclusion – after careful consideration — that if I expect others to continue to be candid with me about their relationships, fears and triumphs, I should do the same…So here goes: [Read more...]

And We’re Back!

Triple B 1.0

Welcome to the newly improved BlackBridalBliss.com! Or as we like to call it, Triple B 2.o! It’s been two years since our debut, so we decided to freshen things up a bit, yet still remain true to our original format that the audience loves. We’ve made a few changes. The first thing you should notice is our fabulous new search box in the navigation bar. This will help you find content you love using keywords like photography, flowers or DJ. Go ahead, try it!

Also new to 2.0 are the remixed navigation bars at the top of the page. We now have two! The first one contains tried and true Triple B faves like Tie the Knot Tuesday.  But there are also new items; see below:

Wedding Timeline Checklist – A complete countdown of what to do when in preparation for your big day.

Press – Now you can see all the ways Triple B has been recognized by a variety of media outlets.

Testimonials – Real Triple B Buzz from readers like you. (Keep ‘em coming!)

Advertise – Vendors can now promote their goods and services with the Triple B audience through advertising.

The second navigation bar contains all the topics the Triple B family loves like Marriage Matters and Destination Ideas. New to the roundup is Bridgette’s Picks; look out for a new post in this category every Wednesday.

And don’t miss the Social Media additions to your right where you can easily join us on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for even more up to the minute bridal news and immediate ways to join our community discussions.

Triple B TV - Here you can view must-see videos that will make you swoon.

Archives – This is a comprehensive list of all Triple B posts by month since 2010.

One key difference of the redesigned site is how we feature our images. Larger images are a perfect compliment to our award-winning content. And we can’t wait for you to see how larger pictures showcase our stunning Tie the Knot Tuesday couples. Be sure to check back tomorrow.

We’re pretty excited and hopefully you are, too. Please spread the bliss about Triple B 2.0 and as always, the best is yet to come!

And the Award Goes to…TRIPLE B!

Earlier today I learned via Twitter that Triple B is being recognized by TheRoot.com and moi has been selected as a one of the Best Black Bloggers of 2012! Ahem, I’ll take it! Check it out — Triple B is #18 in the slideshow. Congrats to all the other winners included as well. And the best is still yet to come for Triple B. There is so much more in store for 2012. Continue to spread the bliss.

Black Brides: You Matter Here!

Triple B's very first Tie the Knot Tuesday bride, Cleo Dujon!

A new year always encourages us to reflect on the one we just left. We’re 9 days into 2012 and as I attempt to strategize on ways to make Triple B more helpful and efficient for you (and make a profit in the process), I’ve been forced to reevalute why this site was launched in the first place. We can all agree that the Black bride is rarely ever acknowledged and when she is it often seems like an afterthought. But here are some other reasons I think often go unnoticed: [Read more...]

Behind the Scenes at the Chris Paul-Jada Crawley Wedding!

The Pauls & Me!

I’ve been itching to share this with you guys and the time is finally here! My former employer ESSENCE magazine tapped moi to cover the nuptials of NBA superstar Chris Paul and his wife Jada. You can check out the story in the November 2011 issue on pages 61-62 and over on Essence.com in their Bridal Bliss Wedding of the Week. (Be sure to watch the video, too.) This assignment admittedly caused me quite a bit of angst. Why? Well, while I’ve interviewed dozens of celebs in the past — from Heidi Klum to Steve Harvey — covering the Paul wedding was extra-special because it marked the first celebrity bridal-related story I nailed since launching Triple B. The stakes were high. Thankfully Chris and Jada couldn’t have been a more down-to-Earth couple. Once I calmed down and treated the story like a typical Tie the Knot Tuesday feature, I was just fine. Traveling to Charlotte, NC to cover the star-studded affair was technically work yet the entire wedding weekend felt like hanging out with family. Seriously. Here are my exclusive highlights you won’t read about anywhere else:
