The Road to Mrs. – Honeymoon…mini-moon…some kinda moon!

Before I truly began wedding planning, like really understanding how everything associated with the word “wedding” is marked up by 1000%, I figured we would have a wedding and then take a two-week honeymoon backpacking through Europe or possibly laying amid the beautiful blue waters in the Maldives…It’s a good thing my dreams don’t get crushed on a regular basis, otherwise the reality that what I envisioned for our honeymoon just isn’t going to come to fruition would be completely devastating! Fortunately, I’m pretty good at being uber resourceful and finding ways to make something out of nothing — in this case that nothing being our honeymoon budget. #sigh [Read more…]

Travel Thursday – Exploring The Berkshires!

Our home away from home while in The Berkshires this summer.

Our home away from home while in The Berkshires this summer.

I once assumed The Berkshires were reserved for those that “summered” in New England. Um for the record, my family did not and we still don’t. In a nutshell, Massachusetts just didn’t seem like a desirable location for a destination wedding, honeymoon, romantic jaunt or even a quick girlfriend’s getaway like the Caribbean, Charleston or Las Vegas. Honestly, I think I was intimidated by the exclusive reputation of the area.

Fast forward to earlier this year when Black Bridal Bliss was invited to spend a weekend in The Berkshires. My perception of this historic western Massachusetts town has pleasantly evolved. Just under a two hour drive from midtown Manhattan — making it an ideal minimoon destination for NYC couples — it is an inviting escape from the hustle and bustle of city life (wild turkeys were spotted on the highway!) filled with lush greenery, rolling hills and friendly locals. Here are the Black Bridal Bliss top five reasons to visit The Berkshires: [Read more…]

Marriage Matters – Meet the Hornes

Kam, Ricky and their three beautiful children are all smiles.

Hollywood is known for many things: cheesy celebrity home tours, beautiful palm trees, gigantic movie studios and microwave marriages. So when Triple B was approached to feature husband-wife duo, Kam and Ricky Horne, Jr. for Marriage Matters, a hefty dose of skepticism arose. Kam knows the entertainment biz well. The stunning Los Angeles native began modeling and acting at the tender age of 13. The mother of three was a regular on the Tia & Tamera Show which aired on the E! Style Network, Bravo and Oxygen. Hubby Ricky is a writer/director/producer who has worked with industry notables like Kim Fields and Lindsay Lohan. The Hornes were refreshingly down to earth and candid about their ups and downs since saying “I Do” — dishing on everything from blending families, raising a special needs child and planning a wedding without supportive parents. Meet the Hornes: [Read more…]

Travel Thursday: Cool Resource for Honeymoon Planning

Triple B just discovered a travel resource that could possibly be a lifesaver for nearlyweds or newlyweds in the honeymoon planning stages. I just learned of Encore Romance Travel on Instagram earlier this week via Chic Brown Bride. (Thanks again, Danielle!) Encore caught my attention and I think they should be on your radar, too. Here’s why: Encore specializes in off the beaten path honeymoon packages, custom packages and all-inclusive honeymoons. There is even an option called mystery honeymoons for the truly adventurous couple. Encore owner Brenda says, “I am passionate about traveling, discovering the world and I love helping other busy couples create the honeymoon of their dreams.” Good stuff, right? [Read more…]

Tie the Knot Tuesday – Tamika & Juan

B-L-I-S-S!

Couple: Tamika & Juan
Wedding Date: April 14, 2013
Wedding Location: The Legare Waring House, Charleston, South Carolina
Theme: Love, Life & Us

Washington, D.C.-based bride Tamika became a friend of Triple B when she entered a photography GIVEAWAY we co-sponsored last year. Both Tamika’s individual accomplishments (she’s a 10+ year cancer survivor and founder of Tamika & Friends, Inc.) and collective accomplishments with Juan (Tamika fell in love with Juan and his daughter!) are impressive and gives even the biggest cynic hope that true love is still out there for all of us. This is much bigger than a wedding. Theirs is a story of survival, the value of life, the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit. Enjoy the trailer!

The Road to Mrs. – Long Distance Wedding Planning

Nadine and her fiance Sean don't always have the luxury of planning their wedding in the same country.

Last week Sean and I updated you on our wedding plans. Hours after our video posted on BBB, Sean headed to the UK for work. By Saturday, I sent him this Facebook message, “Mayday! Mayday! I’m surrounded by wires and trying to figure out which cable wire goes into the TV.  Missing you very much right now. When you get a chance can you send me an email with instructions? Thx!”

To be clear, I’m not some damsel in distress. I’m used to Sean’s traveling but I hate having to deal with household chores he’d usually handle, such as changing high ceiling light bulbs or moving anything really heavy. Thanks to Skype I was able to solve my dilemma, which got me thinking about engaged couples that have to plan their wedding long distance or are planning a destination wedding. If your wedding ceremony is far from home or if you and your fiancé can’t plan the wedding together, things can get sticky. Here’s a few tips that may help:
