Nadine and her fiance Sean don't always have the luxury of planning their wedding in the same country.

Last week Sean and I updated you on our wedding plans. Hours after our video posted on BBB, Sean headed to the UK for work. By Saturday, I sent him this Facebook message, “Mayday! Mayday! I’m surrounded by wires and trying to figure out which cable wire goes into the TV.  Missing you very much right now. When you get a chance can you send me an email with instructions? Thx!”

To be clear, I’m not some damsel in distress. I’m used to Sean’s traveling but I hate having to deal with household chores he’d usually handle, such as changing high ceiling light bulbs or moving anything really heavy. Thanks to Skype I was able to solve my dilemma, which got me thinking about engaged couples that have to plan their wedding long distance or are planning a destination wedding. If your wedding ceremony is far from home or if you and your fiancé can’t plan the wedding together, things can get sticky. Here’s a few tips that may help:

Resident bride-to-be Nadine explains how your phone can help you plan those important wedding details.

If you read my Valentine’s Day post, you’ll know that I recently got an iPhone 4.  Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t get it solely for the apps. I loved my BlackBerry, but I grew tired of its lack of functionality. I can’t lie though, the apps on the iPhone are fantastic, especially the wedding planning apps. Smartphone apps are worth considering and can help you reduce your wedding planning stress. The good news:  If you’ve got an iPhone, there’s an app for that! More than enough. The bad news: If you’ve got a BlackBerry, your options are limited. Here are a few I like:

Can Google for Weddings help with your planning needs? Nadine and her fiance Sean investigate...

When I got Bridgette’s email I just had to read it at the dinner table.  She wanted Sean and I to give our thoughts on the new wedding planning tool being offered by Google.  Google For Weddings is a new set of free wedding planning tools to help you get organized for your big day.  Bridgette doesn’t know this, but I absolutely love Google.  I mean I really love it… I Google just about everything! Sean and I were both up for it, especially when we heard our favorite word, “free.”  So we took time to check out one of the coolest wedding planning tools available. Here’s the rundown:

Our resident bride-to-be Nadine shares her flirty and frugal VDay gift ideas!

Things have been quiet on the planning front. So with Valentine’s Day approaching I wanted to take a look at some fun gift ideas for engaged couples. When you’re engaged Valentine’s Day takes on a new meaning.  Somehow $5 chocolates no longer cut it, nor over indulgent gifts. Yes, you want to enjoy the day but when you’re saving for your wedding, it’s important to make every penny count.  These gifts are sure to spice up your Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank.

Nadine gives the 411 on bridal shows.

If wedding planning season is in full swing, I clearly didn’t get the memo.

My Bridesmaid Tru: Hey Nay! The National Bridal Show is happening this weekend. Let me know if you want to check it out. Might be a great way for all the bridesmaids to get together. P.S. Brides-to-be are free!

Me: Hey, thanks for the email!  I heard about this and was going to send a note to you and the other girls. P.S. I love free!

Pantone's Color of the Year: Honeysuckle!

Last week Sean and I realized our original wedding theme and colors weren’t working. We felt the colors didn’t represent us. So over a good bottle of South African wine, I read up on the importance of theme and color and we regrouped. Sean happens to be a design guru — he has a degree in architecture. And as you remember from his “Sean-In-Law” video, he’s also quite the comedian. You can imagine how silly things got. To be fair, he’s very talented and has improved our living space, but when he gets in design mode…look out! You should see him in IKEA. I digress. Finding it hard to choose your theme or colors? Here’s what the experts say: [click to continue…]

Bride-to-be Nadine is getting over a case of the bridesmaid blues.

This was a tough post to write.  But when I made the decision to share my wedding plans here on Triple B, I knew I’d have to share all of it: the ups and the downs. I had to remove one of my bridesmaids from my bridal party. It is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It had nothing to do with the usual transgressions such as a bridesmaid cheating with the fiancé, being unresponsive or demanding. Mine was a situation that took me completely by surprise.

Triple B blogger Nadine helps you sort through your dreaded wedding guest list issues.

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holiday season. This week I’m talking about the dreaded guest list. Who makes the cut and why? I know it can be  frustrating but you’ve got to work through it. If I can do it, so can you. Here’s how Sean and I simplified the process.
