There’s a new bride-to-be joining the Black Bridal Bliss Family for our beloved Road to Mrs. blog! (WOO HOO) Keep reading to meet Keisa–and be sure to show her lots of Triple B love in the comments.
My cousin and maid of honor Jana, recently graduated from college. With a degree in drama and her eyes set on becoming an actress, she relocated to Los Angeles. Leonard and I agreed to allow Jana to live with us short term while she established herself in L.A. I quickly came with ideas on how she could earn her room and board. With just a few weeks until the wedding, I had several DIY projects that I’d saved with the expectation of having free labor. Jana was barely in the door before I mentioned my plans to put her to work. She was more than eager to help and jumped right in. [Read more…]
Ladies and gents, it is time for me to pass the Road to Mrs. baton. Now that I’m officially a Mrs., I’m happy to present to you Triple B’s latest resident bride-to-be, Nicole! She’s a bubbly Los Angeles-based attorney who is preparing to wed a member of the Armed Forces (Air Force to be exact) and ecstatic to share her wedding planning highs and lows with us every Thursday for the next few months. After reading her first post below, give her a warm Triple B welcome in the comments. (Thanks in advance!) [Read more…]
Happy Friday! Guess what? I’m scheduled to jump the broom a week from tomorrow. That’s right! One. Week. From. Tomorrow. Although I’ve been blogging on Triple B for Road to Mrs. periodically, I have managed to remain sorta tight-lipped about the details of my wedding. (When it is all said and done there will actually be two weddings but more on that later.) My good friend Lisa pointed out my covertness the other night over calamari and catfish tenders. Our convo went something like this:
Lisa: Bridge, people will relate to you more on BBB if you shared the details of your day-to-day.
Me: Yeah, but you know I’m kinda private and so is Mr. TK. Plus, I have been blogging about it in Road to Mrs.
Lisa: (rolling her eyes) That’s not enough. You launched a bridal blog and you’re getting married. You’ve shared so many details about other brides yet you’re keeping all the good stuff about yourself to yourself. That could turn people off.
Lisa: How about a countdown! That’s fun and exciting and you can be honest about all the ish you still have to do. Be vulnerable like you were when you first announced you were engaged. People will relate to that.
And so here it is, folks. The first day of my 1 week wedding day countdown. I even plan to blog tomorrow. (Not Sunday though. The buck has to stop somewhere.) Below is my to-do list for today. Let’s see how much of this I can actually get accomplished. [Read more…]
One of the most nerve-racking things about blending two families is hoping everyone gets along. As I have stated before both my mother and Shawn’s mother live out of town. So the opportunity to get everyone together at the same time had never presented itself. My mother came to New York in June. While she was here we took that time to introduce her to his grandmother and aunt. Success!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. They all bonded instantly. It was a prayerful, crying (tears of joy) good time. Everyone got along so well we had to pull them apart or they would have had church way into the night. Out of all the possible wedding day stressors, the God family drama won’t be one of them. [Read more…]
Being an upcoming bride, who is trying to lose weight for my big day, my relationship with food is a constant struggle. Although I am getting married I know food and weight issues are definitely not exclusive to a bride. [Read more…]
Hey Triple B! Need to relieve wedding planning stress? Try a beachside love shoot! If you know our story, then our beach location should come as no surprise. It’s where we got engaged and is our favourite place to be on a beautiful day. Last Saturday we headed to one of the best beaches in Toronto, Ashbridge’s Bay. It was important for us to have our good friend and Sean’s best man Jose Roldan capture the moment. Special thanks as well to my friend, the multi-talented Natasha Waterman for doing my hair and makeup. And I’ve been instructed by Sean to send a very special shout out to our camera, the Canon Rebel T2i which Jose used to take our photos. Yes, you read that right…our camera. I mean who sends a shout out to their camera? Sean said all the guys out there would get it. Sigh…
Enjoy the photos!
If you clicked on this post because you’re tired of popping diet pills, losing money on gym memberships you rarely use, and drinking concoctions that taste awful, I’ll be honest with you. I’m not about to preach about some secret diet. I didn’t do anything you haven’t tried before. [Read more…]
