Kim who? Chile, please. Solange broke the Internet! The 28 year-old singer, DJ and Puma creative director wed her longtime boyfriend Alan Ferguson in New Orleans yesterday — complete with a second line — and the Internet went ba-na-nas. Here’s what all the hoopla was about and what we can all learn (or be reminded of) about wedding planning from the stylish newlywed plus plenty of swoon-worthy pics and an aww-inducing video clip from the creative all-white affair. A few months ago I discovered a Georgia courthouse wedding on Ebony.com that truly made my heart smile. The nuptials have already received so much buzz on the World Wide Web — and rightfully so — that I hesitated sharing them here…now. But even months after the creative couple said I Do, folks are still liking and commenting on their pictures on Triple B’s Instagram page. Don’t think a courthouse wedding can be chic? Couple: Black Bridal Bliss founder Bridgette and Anthony Royall
Wedding Date: October 19, 2013
Wedding and Reception Location: Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture – Charlotte, NC
Well folks, the deed was done. On Saturday, October 19, 2013, I jumped the broom with my best friend in front of roughly 115 loved ones. (We actually wed a month prior in a much smaller ceremony — I promise to elaborate more on that later.) In a word, last weekend was bliss.
Mr. TK and I are still sleepwalking and aren’t scheduled to return to our normal (whatever that means) schedules until next week. Still, I wanted to give you all a glimpse into our nuptials to hold you over until the official Tie the Knot Tuesday feature next month. Below is hand’s down one of my favorite moments from the big day: [Read more...]
The great news: I made it to Charlotte! Hello, Bojangles and hearing folks say “reckon” regularly. I’m about as Southern as a New York gal can be so it isn’t too much of a surprise to most of my friends that I wanted to jump the broom in North Carolina. Time is flying by. Here’s what I have on the itinerary for today:
There’s yet another wedding to add to the Summer 2013 list of high-profile nuptials! CNN anchor Isha Sesay, 37 said I Do to fellow CNN staffer Leif Coorlim, 34 in Atlanta earlier this month. Isha who is British of Sierra Leonean descent and Leif who was born in California but grew up in Chicago and Portland met at CNN in 2008. The gorgeous Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Buckhead was the couple’s venue of choice for both their ceremony and reception. The bride wore a strapless, custom Amsale gown that featured elaborate beadwork and unexpectedly paired her dress with crimson red stilettos. [Read more...]
Couple: Tamika & Juan
Wedding Date: April 14, 2013
Wedding Location: The Legare Waring House, Charleston, South Carolina
Theme: Love, Life & Us
Washington, D.C.-based bride Tamika became a friend of Triple B when she entered a photography GIVEAWAY we co-sponsored last year. Both Tamika’s individual accomplishments (she’s a 10+ year cancer survivor and founder of Tamika & Friends, Inc.) and collective accomplishments with Juan (Tamika fell in love with Juan and his daughter!) are impressive and gives even the biggest cynic hope that true love is still out there for all of us. This is much bigger than a wedding. Theirs is a story of survival, the value of life, the power of love and the resilience of the human spirit. Enjoy the trailer!
