On the recent heels of NY Fashion Week Fall 2014, Triple B had the opportunity to check out TeKay Designs latest bridal collection, Queen of The Brides. Houston based design label, TeKay Designs offers bridal and formal gowns as well as intricate handmade accessories. Celebrities such as tennis star, Serena Williams and actress Ashley Rickards have worn pieces from TeKay Designs.
Triple B, I have a crush. I stumbled upon Jenny Packham’s 2013 bridal collection this week while doing research for a freelance story. Pure eye candy. The London-based designer has dressed stars like Kerry Washington and Jennifer Hudson on the red carpet. But really it’s her subtle details that have me swooning: the unexpected pleats and usage of lace (lace can be tricky as we have all seen in wedding gowns that resemble Quinceañera dresses) combined with the overall femininity the collection has — those Brits I tell ya. Monday night’s MET Gala brought all the style, glamour, pomp and circumstance we’ve come to expect from the annual ball with a healthy dosage of “what the *?!# moments” for good measure. Lots of cool stuff is happening in the bridal world this week and one is the official launch of Anthropologie’s new spinoff, Bhldn. Debuting on Valentine’s Day, the offshoot that I first mentioned here, presently offers gowns (for the bride and her attendants), footwear, jewelry, headpieces, lingerie and coverups.
Happy 2011! Kicking things off this glorious first Monday of the year is veteran bridal designer, Therez Fleetwood. Fleetwood, who began designing wedding dresses over a decade ago has caught the attention of major media outlets such as The Today Show and ESSENCE magazine. Brides from all over the world trust her to create one-of-a-kind gowns inspired by Egypt, Morocco, India and South Africa.
I enjoy looking to unconventional resources for inspiration in just about everything that I do – from home decorating to hairstyle selections. When and if I do have a “wedding”, I can totally see myself buying my dress at a second-hand shop or some other random place that will drive my mother batty.
