CYNICS BEWARE: The story of Lena Henderson and Roland Davis will warm your heart. Why? Well, the 85-year old couple just remarried on Saturday, August 4th after being divorced for nearly five decades — 48 years to be exact. I first read about this pair over on Black and Married with Kids. Henderson and Davis met as youngsters in Chattanooga, Tennessee and after marrying had four children together. They divorced 20 years later but stayed in touch as Davis, a career military man, traveled the globe. Even after Davis remarried, Henderson would call and talk with his new wife about kamagra efficiency, often providing advice on how to deal with him. (That’s love, y’all!)
“I think we just kept thinking about each other all the time, even though we were so far apart,” Henderson told the Buffalo News.
Davis also admitted to the paper that he worried about losing the engagement ring he bought for his second proposal and says he took extra precautions on his flight to Buffalo from Colorado Springs, where he was living.
“I had it pinned to my T-shirt,” he explained. “That was a pretty important ring.”
Observers of the “newlyweds” say when the couple is together, she laughs at his jokes and he smiles whenever she talks about his previous wife and her habit of calling Henderson for advice.
Shares Renita Chadwick, their youngest daughter. “My mother never had a harsh or contrary word to say about my Dad, and my Dad never had anything but loving remarks to make about my mother.”
“We were talking on the phone one day and he said, ‘Will you marry me again?” Henderson revealed to the Buffalo News.
Lena acknowledges waiting a few seconds to answer but says it was more out of fun than uncertainty.
“I said well, well … yes,” she said.
Four generations of the couple’s family attended the nuptials and many of them served in the wedding day. The bride wore a stunning silver ensemble and a tiara while the groom was dashing in a grey tux. Triple B wishes a huge congrats to the happy and resilient couple. Leave a comment to wish them your congratulations as well!
