Confession: Like most bloggers who regularly cover style and beauty, I often receive freebies. However I only post about those items that I feel are truly Triple B worthy; especially as my Pick of the Week. Here’s why this week’s pick, SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Body Wash made the cut.
Pros: This stuff smells good. Really good. (But not in a super-sweet fruity kinda way.) It’s also ultra-moisturizing. The temps have begun to drop below the freezing mark in NYC. A hydrating cleanser is a must for me. This body wash is made with natural and certified organic ingredients such as shea butter, honey, mafura and baobab oils. And last but certainly not least, 10% of SheaMoisture Community Commerce product sales like this one go to women-led businesses, to support communities that supply ingredients for SM’s products.
Cons: One 13 ounce bottle is ten bucks. Another confession? I don’t normally pay more than three or four dollars for a bottle of body wash or shower gel. (Many of the products I get via work cost more than what I would actually pay with my own coins.) If you are a planning bride or newlywed, you find ways to cut household costs however possible. But, if ten bucks (plus tax) is your not a big deal for you to spend on body wash, this purchase it definitely a score all around!
Verdict: It might not be practical to become your go-to body cleanser if you’re paying for a wedding or just finished paying for one but SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Body Wash is a nice way to occasionally escape from the stresses of wedding planning, or heck life in general, from the comfort of your own bathroom.

Often, products of good quality (no toxic junk ingredients) are so rich you can either dilute them or use less than cheaper products. That $10 bottle may last twice as long or longer than your $4 product. Many lesser quality products use “fillers,” to increase volume. The trick is to know the ingredients. Environmental Working Group’s website provides great info on common ingredients in bath and body products. I like the idea of supporting women-led businesses and communities.
