Learning to Let Go: A fave shot from my engagement session

For the last three years (and change) ’round these parts, Tuesday isn’t just the day after Monday or before Wednesday. Tie the Knot Tuesday has evolved into a day to share real weddings and honest love stories. It became a weekly ritual to celebrate families, sisterhood/brotherhood and good times. Both men and women from all over the world (!) send emails expressing how much they look forward to Tie the Knot Tuesday — many of these sentiments are from folks who are single, already married, divorced and even widowed.

Since Triple B launched, I began an awesome position as fashion market editor at a top celebrity magazine and I also contribute to other media outlets as a freelancer. I also oversee all Triple B’s editorial content, organize giveaways, plan events and manage the site’s social media presence. It is a hefty but surmountable load, especially since everyone in my circle has equal if not more ish on their plates. I know some of you might be wondering but — no, forsaking my magazine and other freelance gigs to solely work on Triple B is not a financial option just yet. (It will be one day — I’m claiming it!) Until then, I am simultaneously working on four stories for my fashion market editor position. To say I’m juggling a lot right now is an understatement.

I am also in the thick of planning my own Tie the Knot Tuesday. In addition to emailing wedding vendors and attending tastings, I’m making time for pre-marriage counseling and learning how to combine my 30+ years of life with someone else’s — physically and mentally. All the while, I still have a personal life to lead — you know making time for things like Zumba class and doing laundry.

What do these taxicab confessions have to do with Tie the Knot Tuesday? Everything. Tie the Knot Tuesday is a feature I take seriously. I personally curate dozens of images for each photo gallery, interview the bride and the groom not just about their wedding day but also about the nuances of their relationships and even the challenges they faced to get to the altar. With the exception of a handful, I have done this for every Tie the Knot Tuesday feature to date. No one owes me anything; I signed up for this. Triple B and especially Tie the Knot Tuesday is a labor of love and a task I enjoy.

But, I want to enjoy my bridal bliss. (The nerve of me, right?) I want to take in all the fun surrounding my rapidly approaching bridal shower and bachelorette festivities. I want to return the phone calls of my loved ones — the folks who always have my back — in a timely manner. I don’t want my fiance and I to stop dating. In order for this to happen, Tie the Knot Tuesday must take a hiatus. I’ve thought long and hard about this. It was a difficult decision to make. My email folder of interested Tie the Knot Tuesday couples is steadily growing and so is my wedding to-do list. My rock star summer intern Janee will be returning to Hampton University soon and I’ve yet to secure a fall intern. This break is overdue.

Tie the Knot Tuesday as you know it will return in mid-November 2013. There will be an increase in guest posts over the next few months. And because I realize many of you are also juggling demanding careers, families, etc. while planning your big day and relying on Triple B to help you sort it all out, I will officially begin my own Road to Mrs. column beginning next week! Unlike Bridgette’s Pick of the Week, these posts will be less product driven and more of a peek into the planning of my nuptials which I’ve been pretty tight lipped about until now.

As a colleague described the site recently, “Triple B is more than a blog, it is a movement.” In order to keep this movement going and growing, a break is necessary. Many thanks in advance for understanding. Remember:

The best is yet to come!
