Triple B on the Scene: Does this couple look familiar?

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! BlackBridalBliss.com is featured in the June 2014 issue of ESSENCE magazine. (Prince is on the cover.) Check out a picture from The Royall Union in Charlotte, North Carolina on page 98 — there’s a tease of it above — as well as may-ja accolades on page 100.

Although Triple B has been mentioned in ESSENCE before, and my own picture has appeared in ESSENCE numerous times — I’m pretty freakin’ excited. For BlackBridalBliss.com, a platform I created four years ago with very limited resources as a way to service and celebrate Black women tying the knot, to be lauded as one of the Best Black Wedding Sites by the premiere magazine for Black women is a big deal. In addition to my wedding pic, this special package is peppered with tips from moi about weddings as both a bride and a guest. Regardless of how connected I am or was to the publication, this is a magazine I grew up with and respected because I embraced the way women who looked like me were featured. Women who were often the first and/or only in their respective fields yet still moving and shaking. And now I am one of those women. I pray I never become so jaded that I take these types of accomplishments for granted. (Trust me, it is easy to do and I’ve come close but the universe will feed you humble pie just when you need it.) Triple B has faced many a challenge since 2010 and I’m wise enough to know there are more challenges to come as the site grows. Therefore when these types of recognitions occur — I will blissfully express my gratitude.

Oh and speaking of awesome press for Triple B, check out this piece I recently penned about wearing my mother’s wedding gown for JetMag.com. Feel free to leave a comment over there, too.

Happy Reading!
