Soliloquy Bridal Boutique is taking the DMV by Storm!

Anytime I get the opportunity to feature Black female entrepreneurs on Triple B (which is done quite often), I get excited and today is no exception. Read all about Soliloquy Bridal Boutique, the awesome brainchild of Savannah-native Miriam Liggett. This former corporate executive and fellow bridal junkie opened the doors of Soliloquy in Northern Virginia in November 2011 and the retail establishment is already all the buzz in the DMV (Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia) area. Find out why:

Don't let a little snow ruin your bridal fashion.

Technically winter is still a couple of months away but here in the Northeast U.S. we were treated to an early debut just this weekend. It got me to thinking about all those fall/winter brides who might be struggling with ways to stay warm on their big day. We already know there are huge financial benefits to getting hitched during off-peak times of year but the bridal fashion choices don’t immediately seem as plentiful. Don’t fret, just check out these winter wedding suggestions that aren’t just stylish but affordable, too.

The $99 (!) Halter Charmeuse Floor Length Gown from David's Bridal current DB Studio collection.

Happy Friday! Yesterday I previewed the spring 2012 collection from David’s Bridal. I know some folks consider David’s Bridal boring and predictable (and sometimes quite frankly they are) but they’re such an accessible resource for you brides getting married with a gang of bridesmaids and/or bridesmaids living in different cities. David’s Bridal is also affordable — let’s face it, your maid of honor might be a single, childless 20-something making close to six digits but your matron might be a stay at home mom with two kids and a baby on the way…Their priorities and levels of disposable income are probably quite different. In addition, I appreciate that their sizes fit a wide range of body types because chances are everyone in your bridal party is not 5’9 and a size 4.

Here are a few trend highlights form DB that you can look forward to seeing next season: [click to continue…]

Road to Mrs. & Tie the Knot Tuesday alum Charli Penn opted for this simple and chic "bride" hanger on her big day.

I first fell in love with customized bridal hangers while viewing the wedding trailer of Virdina and Kevin last year. (I’m a true sucker for anything personalized; blame it on my parents.) Since then, they’ve popped up in countless Tie the Knot Tuesday weddings because let’s face it — they make that all important gown shot every wedding photographer must catch even more special. Newlywed Kim Kardashian even tweeted a picture of her custom gown hanger on her wedding day. [click to continue…]

Budget bridal buys...for bridesmaids!

Have you heard? The Vera Wang for David’s Bridal bridesmaid collection is at last available to the masses. As of last week, the iconic designer’s posh creations are available to the wedding attendants of working class folks. I truly like the collection, largely because it doesn’t sacrifice style for price unlike many similar high-end designer lines for budget retailers. [click to continue…]

The front entrance of Amsale's chic NYC showroom.

Is it H-O-T enough for you guys today?! Here in NYC it is expected to reach 100 degrees. Wanna know what else is hot? Me getting to meet and chat it up with designer Amsale yesterday in her Madison Avenue showroom. Because of my line of work, I’ve met plenty of top designers in my day but I still get giddy when I get to chat with fashion-creating folks who are truly passionate about their craft. Amsale is one of those designers. [click to continue…]

Last Monday night, the annual MET Gala took place and this year there seemed to be an influx of brown faces on the red carpet. Of course this is just perfect for Triple B! Sadly attending this

Newlywed Nicole Richie rocked the red carpet this year in this dreamy creamy Jason Wu number! While the sleeves are rock n' roll, the simple silhouette say intimate, backyard wedding.

fashion event is still on my life’s bucket list but I’m giving you the 411 on what gowns are wedding-day worthy anyhow  as I did last year. Shout out to the lovely ladies over at The Glamazons blog for their on-point (and hilarious) commentary. Enjoy the eye candy!
