Los Angeles-based fashion designer Love Collins has been designing stylish pieces for the discerning woman for nearly a decade. “I began designing under my own label professionally, full-time in 2005,” the newlywed explains. Collins studied at Howard University and the Fashion Institute of Technology and her first major break designing under the Love Collins Custom Clothier umbrella was actually a bridal job for Kimberly Chandler, wife of NBA player Tyson Chandler, currently a center for the Dallas Mavericks. “I designed the wedding gown for Kimberly and every item the bridal party wore — over 20 people!” recalls Collins. In August, I attended the Carolee Fall/Holiday Press Preview. Carolee is one of my go-to resources for stylish fashion jewelry for formal or semi-formal occasions. In fact my bridesmaids even wore earrings and bracelets from Carolee during my Charlotte wedding last year. It was one of my gifts to them. However at their recent press preview, it wasn’t the “bling” I went home thinking about. I was most smitten by the new Word Play bangles. They too make excellent bridesmaids gifts and are so fun for stacking. [Read more...]
Hey, Triple B! Your favorite cousin has something new up his sleeve. In addition to my Final Friday musings on serious topics like marriage, brotherhood and parenting, I will post here each and every Thursday about…Fashion. The truth is I’m a simple khakis and sweater kinda guy when it comes to clothes — I’ve never been nor do I aspire to be a “fashion dude.” But Boss Lady Bridgette felt like BlackBridalBliss.com was slacking in men’s wardrobe content. Eventually I had to agree she had a valid point: Most fellas want to be fly for their wedding day, too. Still, I told her I would only do it if I could make it fun and stay true to who I am. So I partnered up with my lil’ cuz Janee D. Weather aka “Venus” (Triple B’s hardworking editorial assistant) and soon the Mars vs. Venus concept was born. We’re kicking off this exciting feature with a look for the groom and/or his groomsmen in the above pic. [Read more...]
As a woman with a dark chocolate complexion, I’ll forever be grateful to my parents for instilling a positive self-image in me from an early age. As an adult I realize what they managed to do was no easy feat. I still have a few issues with my image — but thankfully my complexion (or hair texture/length) has never been among them. Yet, the reality is the rest of the world — and especially the fashion and beauty industries — is for the most part obsessed with light skin. So although you’ll never catch me trying to bleach mine, it is annoying to say the least when searching for bandaids, hosiery, lingerie, etc. to match my ebony tone. In fact, the rare times I do find a bra/panty set in my shade that is actually cute, I literally get excited. How cool it would be to have a go-to resource for brown women that offered affordable and stylish undergarments in a range of brown hues, right?
Enter Nubian Skin.
When I was a freshman in college, I got my first (and only) tattoo. My older cousin took me to get it and thankfully provided some guidance. She ensured the location was clean, licensed and that I didn’t get some teenage boyfriend’s name permanently stenciled on my body. I went with an ankh on my upper right thigh and nearly 20 years later I have no regrets.
But, every now and then a gal wants to mix things up — and not necessarily with permanent ink — with no guilt or worry. So when my friend Pam introduced me to Flash Tattoos, I was excited. These metallic henna-inspired temporary tattoos are so hot! [Read more...]

After earning two degrees from NYC’s Fashion Institute of Technology, studying fashion marketing in London, working as a fashion market editor/writer/stylist for several years and most importantly; being raised by a shrewd shopper who can spot the best sales from bargain basements to Bergdorf Goodman (Thanks, Mommy!), I know a few things about shopping smart. Here I share some insider secrets I’ve acquired and hope they help you stay under budget for your wedding day. You’re welcome! [Read more...]
Leonard definitely has what one would call swag. He wears a uniform to work daily but cleans up very well. He attributes his style to his Houston upbringing. Whether in jeans, a Polo, and a fresh pair of tennis shoes or a suit and tie, Leonard takes great pride in his appearance and can make any ensemble look good. I’ve never doubted his taste. My female friends often talk about having to give their men direction when it comes to picking out gifts for them, especially shoes or clothes. On several occasions Leonard has picked out shoes for me as a gift and I’ve always be happy with his choices. Despite having to deal with his cockiness, I’m happy to have a guy with such great style. I’m a huge gift person. I love to give and receive. I knew gift giving was my love language without even taking the quiz. Leonard knows this about me, and as much as he tries to deny me gifts, when it really counts he always comes through. So I was beyond ecstatic when right after I picked out my wedding dress he told me that his wedding gift to me would be my wedding shoes! I immediately started searching for the perfect pair. Many refer to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Annual Costume Institute Ball in NYC as the biggest night in fashion. (Attending this coveted event is still on my bucket list.) This year’s theme celebrates famed American designer Charles James. As usual Triple B has rounded up the most memorable looks of the evening just for you. There was loads of bridal inspiration on last night’s red carpet so get ready to swoon. Enjoy! [Read more...]
When I learned of TheEnclosed.com recently, I knew I had the share this find on Triple B. What woman wouldn’t fancy receiving a new, different pair of sexy undies in the mail every month? This subscription-based service, founded by Columbia Business School graduate Antonia Townsend in November 2013, does just that! [Read more...]
