Triple B Needs YOUR Feedback!

Hola! Yesterday I received a tweet from a former colleague that made my day. It read: “Thank you for keeping the site going! These images are necessary. I love the pics in today’s Tie the Knot Tuesday wedding. ” See why that made my day? And now it is your turn!

Many of you have also tweeted me, emailed me, left a comment on the Triple B Facebook page or shared verbally in passing that Black Bridal Bliss has given you something special. So now I need a favor from you. Please email me at bridgette@blackbridalbliss.com the ways that this site has inspired, motivated or encouraged you. No expression is too small or too long. Be sure to include your first name and city of residence. Know that I’m not collecting these testimonies for kicks and giggles but rather for a much bigger Triple B related project. Many thanks in advance for helping to take Triple B to the next level.

How Do I Decline a Bridesmaid Request?

To be a bridesmaid or not to be a bridesmaid...That is the question.

My cousin recently sent me a text asking the below question:

*Tara and *Nicky have been asked to be in a wedding but neither of them want to be another wedding right now. They want you to tell them how to break the news to the bride-to-be. Thanks!

So because of Triple B, I’ve become the unofficial go-to person in the crew for all things wedding related. Funny. But then I realized this question (and my answer) would become a great post. [Read more...]

The Road to Mrs. – Wedding Planning Highs and Lows

Triple B's resident bride-to-be dancing the night away! Her teenage daughter and maid of honor thinks she's "spicy" and wouldn't you agree?

Success! God is good, and prayer works.  My bridal party has been successfully outfitted. The second outing with my bridesmaids went better than I could have hoped. So well in fact, that within an hour and a half all three ladies were in agreeance, fitted and had their dresses ordered. Yay!

Tie the Knot Tuesday – Men’s Special

Chris Paul and his wife Jada: It was imperative for Chris to pay homage to his deceased grandfather on his wedding day.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re aware of the Trayvon Martin tragedy. I’ll spare you my feelings on the case (I doubt they’re hard to figure out) however what Martin’s murder reminded me of is how much some lives are undervalued in the U.S. Now you’re wondering where I’m going with this and what the heck it has to do with weddings. Well, in addition to showcasing two people joining their lives as one, Tie the Knot Tuesday regularly spotlights real families — men, women and even children loving and supporting each other. I think we all can use a reminder of the ways Black men, whether they are grooms, fathers of the bride, brothers of the bride, uncles or family friends, hold it down for their families. Are these men without issues? Nope; absolutely not. I’m just doing my part to level the playing field a bit. This is for all the Trayvons of the world. Take a few moments to digest all of this and then recognize how many men like these you have in your own life; even if the world rarely does.

Marriage Matters Monday – My First Year as a Wife

Newylweds Rasheeda and Cory on vacation in St. Thomas earlier this year.

What a treat I have for you guys today! When I discovered that Tie the Knot Tuesday alum Rasheeda enjoys writing and realized that her one-year wedding anniversary was approaching, I asked the Georgia Peach to pen a piece about her first 365 days of wifedom for Triple B. Rasheeda in turn submitted a beautiful, honest and eye-opening letter to her engaged self. There are so many jewels in this letter, y’all. Enjoy!
