Charli schools us on getting the hubby-to-be invloved.

I’m happy to report that Charli’s first blog post last week was a certified hit! Well, here she is again and this week she’s talking about the fellas. I truly want to hear your feedback on this one so be sure to leave comments everyone. Have a great weekend and know that Triple B will be back in full swing next week.

One of the hardest things about planning your wedding is dealing with high stress levels for months on end. The guys put a ring on it, then sit back, relax, and wait for you (and/or your mothers) to make wedding magic happen. Sure saving up for the big bling and popping the question might have been stressful for them, but as we brides find out real fast, it’s only the beginning. And, where are the guys when you need ‘em? In front of the television, out with the guys, or suddenly “too tired” to talk. I feel your pain ladies.

My usually reliable go-to guy hasn’t gone to most vendor meetings and I had to threaten him with bodily harm just to get his half of the guest list into our spreadsheet. Getting him to pull his own wedding weight hasn’t been easy, but with three months left to go, I’m happy to report that he has completed a few tasks.

What’s the secret to a planning partnership? Well, I say it’s all in what you’re asking him to do. If you’re not careful you’ll be setting yourself up for failure. I learned this the hard way when I demanded we go registry shopping during the middle of the NBA playoffs. (Talk about an angry shopper.) So, I offer you ladies five tasks he can handle, and might even enjoy:

1. Trimming Your Guest List Down to Size – Your venue holds a maximum of 150 guests, but there are already over 200 on your first round list. Since he’s such a tough guy, let him decide whether his crazy unmarried college buddies get to bring a random plus one. Gibran cut 20 people on our list without blinking an eye. I was so relieved not to have to be the bad guy.

2. Brainstorming Ways to Save – Your heart is set on everything. But his will most likely break when he sees the bill. So running your must-haves by him and asking for his help with figuring out ways to save is definitely something he can dig. The face Gibran made when I told him how much an old-fashioned photo booth cost was priceless. And, enough to make me scratch it off our list.

Gibran gives two thumbs up! The groom wants to have some fun, too.

3. Creating the Ultimate Party Play List — After your “I dos”, it’s time to get the party started. You don’t have time to browse your massive iTunes library, but he sure does. Have him select your must-play picks and negotiate with the deejay.

4. Planning Your Engagement Party – Ladies, with all of the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception planning you have to juggle, do you really want to worry about the engagement party too? Our game night style engagement get-together was a hit with our friends, and all I had to do to help make it happen was take a ride with him to Target and Costco.

5. Research and Finalize Honeymoon Plans – If your groom is anything like mine, he’s probably perfected the art of relaxing. So why not put the honeymoon in his hands? Gibran made a great case for Maui, and found a hotel and airfare deal too. I added a two-day stopover in Vegas, our favorite city, and just like that we had nailed down our honeymoon plans.

How has your guy helped you out? Or are you about ready to kill him? I want to hear your no-good-lazy-crazy groom stories!
