I once assumed The Berkshires were reserved for those that “summered” in New England. Um for the record, my family did not and we still don’t. In a nutshell, Massachusetts just didn’t seem like a desirable location for a destination wedding, honeymoon, romantic jaunt or even a quick girlfriend’s getaway like the Caribbean, Charleston or Las Vegas. Honestly, I think I was intimidated by the exclusive reputation of the area.
Fast forward to earlier this year when Black Bridal Bliss was invited to spend a weekend in The Berkshires. My perception of this historic western Massachusetts town has pleasantly evolved. Just under a two hour drive from midtown Manhattan — making it an ideal minimoon destination for NYC couples — it is an inviting escape from the hustle and bustle of city life (wild turkeys were spotted on the highway!) filled with lush greenery, rolling hills and friendly locals. Here are the Black Bridal Bliss top five reasons to visit The Berkshires: [Read more…]
I’ll admit when I first learned that Pantone selected Rose Quartz and Serenity as the 2016 colors of the year I was skeptical. Why two? And why pastels? Generally, I prefer to rock bright bold hues. Pastels typically make me think of Easter eggs. But the soothing, serene hues grew on me and now I’m eager to see how next year’s brides incorporate them into their wedding day and beyond! Pantone Color Institute’s Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman explains, “Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” I’m definitely looking forward to more order and peace in 2016. Here are a few of my personal style ideas in Rose Quartz and Serenity to get your juices flowing: [Read more…]

As we enter engagement season (late-November through mid-February), hundreds of newcomers will join the Black Bridal Bliss family — welcome! During the coming weeks and months, many of you will be determining the type of nuptials you want to have and much of this rest on the amount of guests you’ll invite.
Yep. The dreaded wedding guest list. No need to sugarcoat it. The process is daunting. Unless you and your partner elope or opt to have a small civil ceremony — which can be quite chic (!), you will likely lose a little (or a lot of) sleep thinking about your guest list choices. Here are three quick tips to help you navigate this process: [Read more…]
By now you’ve probably heard that Karli Harvey (one of the daughters of Steve Harvey) and Ben Raymond tied the knot earlier this fall. Now, check out the below video trailer of the couple’s big day. And head’s up: You may need a tissue handy for the touchy (and real) exchange between Steve and Karli around the 5 minute mark. Something about the way Steve shares, “I know” says a lot about their bond. It is a short yet powerful exchange. Enjoy! [Read more…]
Ladies and gentlemen, the Black Bridal Bliss Cupcakes, Cocktails & Conversation in Washington, D.C. was a bona fide hit! On November 8, 2015, beautiful people made their way to the historic Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inn in Dupont Circle for sexy signature craft cocktails from Stir D.C. and yummy pastries from Mimi’s Mocha Treats. The equally fun and informative conversation which covered a wide range of topics from blended families to relationship social media boundaries with our all-male panel of married men was moderated by the lovely Cori Murray of ESSENCE Magazine. Each guest was also gifted with a copy of the November 2015 issue of ESSENCE. However, I can show you better than I can tell you. Take a look at these pictures to get a glimpse of Cupcakes, Cocktails & Conversation for yourself. [Read more…]
One of the things we enjoy about weddings here at Black Bridal Bliss is that although there are many similarities in each, every single one is distinctive. Take the nuptials of Kesha and Steven of Maryland, for instance (we initially featured them in Tie the Knot Tuesday last year). While their wedding on the surface seemed classic and pretty traditional, it in fact was injected with several unique touches such as liturgical dancers during the ceremony and a surprise Latin-inspired first dance that even their wedding party didn’t know about! The best part? Their touching and relatable love story. Check it out:
