A former Tie the Knot Tuesday groom turned good friend shared these two stories with me recently regarding marriage. Whether or not you agree with all of the information in them is irrelevant. But, ensuring that Triple B shares content beyond the flowers, tulle and pretty pictures of traditional weddings is extremely important. Let’s remember folks, the wedding is only the beginning of the marriage… And every couple’s vows will get tested. Yes, even yours.
Marriage is Not For You! – Don’t let the title discourage you. This piece written by a happily married man is quite enlightening and supportive of healthy marriages.
20 Marriage Tips Everyone Needs to Know – Definitely lots of food for thought here and coincidently this op-ed was also written by a man.
Read both at your leisure and share your thoughts — good, bad or indifferent in the comments. [Thanks again, L.D.!]
I’ll read these links later on my way home. But I just had to chime in and say you’re so right about the vows. People shouldn’t recite them until they really think about the words and what they mean. Unfortunately I don’t think a lot of couples do.
I will read later; I’m interested in what they have to say. Thanks for the info.
Both articles are so on point…….good stuff for newlyweds to ponder on. Loved the marriage advice the father gave his son, usually mom is the go to person for advice. Of course I’m thinking so many of our sons have no fathers to seek this kind of advice from.
@Aliya – Amen!
@Aunt Zee – Pls come back and post after you’ve read both because I’m very interested in your feedback.
@Anon – Thanks for commenting. I agree about marriage advice typically coming from mom versus dad. Perhaps that is because father-son bonding isn’t celebrated as much as mother-children (son or daughter) bonding? Hmm…
Quite profound. I’m glad I read it but know that it will take a while to fully process it. Thanks for sharing.
