A Fab Wedding Cake (and Cookie) Resource November 4, 2010 Comments Off on A Fab Wedding Cake (and Cookie) Resource by Bridgette A sample of gorgeous delights from Cake Bliss out of Brooklyn, NY! Today’s post is extra-sweet (literally). Keep reading to get the 411 on two fab bridal resources that will more than satisfy your dessert cravings for a wedding or any other special event. And guess what? Both are owned/run by Black women! The woman behind Cake Bliss is Margo Lewis, a self-taught pastry queen who has had her creative treats featured in a host of publications from Black Enterprise to Brides magazines. Don’t you find cakes that look pretty but taste blah annoying? I certainly do (they are such a waste of time) but Margo does not disappoint. I had the pleasure of tasting one of her yummy cakes at a work function a couple years back and it was mmm mmm good! She takes great pride in her work from the inside out and her rapidly growing fan base is a reflection of that. Just last week I learned of another NY-based dessert diva named Deidra Olds who has a budding biz called JoxeyGabby. Joxey Gabby is a start-up bakery that specializes in custom desserts. Olds recently whipped up cookies for a bridesmaid shindig in honor of one of my former high school classmates and the reviews were thumbs up. Olds is also a Triple B fan and revealed to me, “Although it has been almost 10 years since I married my hubby, I enjoy BlackBridalBliss.com and would have used it as a reference for planning my wedding.” While cookies are seemingly the specialty of JoxeyGabby, be sure to inquire about some of her other tasty baked treats as well. As always, be sure to let these folks know that Black Bridal Bliss sent ya!
