Remember those books gathered last month during Triple B’s Cupcakes, Cocktails & Conversation event in Harlem? Well as promised, they were donated to the pediatric ward of an area hospital — Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the South Bronx section of NYC to be exact. And yesterday I received this beautiful thank you letter expressing how appreciative the hospital staff was for the BlackBridalBliss.com donation. Read more of the letter below:
Giving back is something I try to do often (but there’s much more I can do) and I’m thankful that I married someone who shares this desire. Normally boasting about donating, volunteering, etc. to those less fortunate in any capacity seems tasteless but in this instance I wanted you all to physically see where the books we collected at CCC really went and how the selflessness of even a few can go a long way. I have personally read to children at both Lincoln and Harlem Hospitals during holiday season and sadly, most of the youngsters I encountered were not used to having an adult read books to them. And — especially on the eve of Black Male Achievement Week and reading about little girls like this — I don’t have to tell you how numbing that was to witness. Reading is fundamental. Efforts like Toys for Tots are cool but imagine how much our youth would benefit from adding more books to all those dolls and trucks they’re given during the holiday season.
Going forward I have decided that whenever Triple B hosts an event, there will be a charitable angle involved. And this post will help keep me accountable. Pay it forward, y’all!

Very nice. Continue sowing good seeds.
Giving is enormously more gratifying than receiving. Children encouraged to read from their younger years get to learn, travel and dream. That I learned from experience. While still an adolescent I traveled the world without ever getting on an aircraft. As an adult, I followed through and have boarded many aircrafts to experience the places my reading exposed me to. It’s been a joy. I honor and respect your vow to make each event an opportunity to give. Your effort will be surely blessed.
Awesome! Go BBB
Books are the ultimate gift! You will be blessed because of your donation…
Thank you, everyone. Truly. @SD – YES! I so agree. Books offer so many gifts and exposure to other sights, sounds and even tastes of the world has definitely been one of them for me, too.
