The below video is over a year old but the content still resonates and educates. I have known the interview subjects, Rev. Dr. Floyd Flake and Rev. Dr. Elaine Flake of the Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Queens, NY since childhood. I attended the Allen Christian School which they founded for eight years and believe I am a better woman because of it. Their efforts to improve the community I grew up in are invaluable to me so I’m probably biased. I’ve witnessed their marriage and ministry go through the type of challenges that would lead many couples to divorce court.
Triple B isn’t in the business of glorifying any marriage as perfect but we are in the business of reminding brides and grooms to understand that after the pretty dress, delicious cake and gorgeous pictures the unpredictable journey of married life begins. Regardless of your religious/spiritual affiliation (I realize everyone who frequents Triple B isn’t Christian.) or your personal opinion of the Flakes’ political stances — there are bona fide jewels in this video the Triple B family needs to hear. It is long but ask that you watch until the end with an open mind.

Insightful interview. It is important for engaged and newlywed couples to hear things like this. Thx BBB!
Love comes and goes but the covenant stays…<—This is GOLD. There is something to be said for sticking it out. We all love to marvel and praise couples that have been together 30, 40, 50+ years but most of us never stop to think that those people have had days, weeks and maybe even months of doubt, disappointment, frustration — you name it. Anything worth having is worth fighting for.
That was awesome!
Very valuable advice from successful participants. I wish I had the benefit of this knowledge decades ago.
What a beautiful and inspirational video. Bona fide jewels to say the least………..
I appreciate each of these comments. Videos like this are so necessary. Triple B will continue to share them whenever possible.
I absolutely love Dr Flake and First Lady Flake. At every meeting or conference I try to catch up with them because they have soooooo much wisdom as it pertains to life and ministry. I look to her more so now than any time because I will soon be in her shoes, married to a pastor which is a CALLING all by itself! Thanks for sharing the video! #AME #1stDistrict
