MARS says – My first thought when looking at this dress can’t be shared now – my mommy reads my writing. I’ve had a crush on Malinda since she was Bird (Soul Food). I’m loving the low cut and high split; it puts this dress on top of the sexy category – but not at all trashy if worn correctly. As much as I’d enjoying seeing some women in this dress, I doubt I’d suggest that it be worn for the actual ceremony. But, this dress would totally work as a bride’s second look and/or reception outfit.
VENUS says – Malinda Williams rocked this black and white gown at the 2013 Soul Train Awards. I love the pink lipstick and coordinating pink pumps. It was the perfect pop of color! I would substitute the ruffles for the split or vice versa. For the upcoming winter weather season this dress is perfect for your black tie nuptials. This would also be great change-of-gown for the reception.

It was bound to happen eventually and alas…Here’s a look we don’t agree on. I really do not like this dress. The partial peplum situation is awkwardly placed and adds bulk to Malinda’s midsection taking away from her cute petite figure. I also think the low cut v-neck and high slit are too much — one or the other would have been classier. This dress kinda epitomizes the phrase “when bad clothes happen to good people.” BUT, Malinda is so pretty and her ‘do (her hair is always tight!) + make-up are on point so she still looks camera ready.
I like the look, but can honestly say that I don’t have the body to pull this one off.
This look is great on Malinda but I don’t think too many of us could pull it off. I agree with Bridgette’s comment that the partial peplum (as if I had this nomenclature down prior to reading this) may add too much… Maybe placed in the back would add some drama for the “background.” The low neck and high slit seems like they’re trying to meet in the middle and that’s interesting. Malinda is one of my favorite actresses because of her great personality. Yes, her hair and makeup is always done so tastefully.
This is awesome, what a sexy bride, who designed this dress?
I love the dress…incidentally, I just interviewed Malinda on my blog :) since Mars has a crush on her…

Thanks for weighing in, all!
@JH – I’m going to check out your interview w/ Malinda now. ;-)
I agree Bridgette split, ruffles, or cleavage certainly not all three. But I’m a big fan of any combination of black and white you can always find a way to make them work!
