Proposal videos go viral on the Web faster than chicken pox spreads in a first grade classroom. Many of them are corny or just overdone but there are still some that manage to make us stop and say “Awww!” out loud. Today’s (Not Quite) Tie the Knot Tuesday video isn’t the most elaborate we’ve seen but there is a true sweetness about it and I appreciate that the groom-to-be — and a very proud member of Omega Psi Phi, Inc. — Preston took the time to submit it to Triple B. (Yep, fellas check out BlackBridalBliss.com too.)
Preston shares, “Lisa and I actually grew up together across the street from each other in Harlem, NYC. We lost contact for like 30 years.” He continues, “I found her on Facebook last year and we started a friendship again.” Now the couple is preparing to jump the broom in a destination wedding in Jamaica, WI.

Thanks ladies for the comments and posting the video! Yeah she was quite shocked. She thought we were going on stage to get votes for a Dream Wedding contest. I told her that one of my students (I’m a sports/entertainment law professor) was interning at the park and they wanted to help us get votes. They wanted to see what “black love” looked like. So she got on stage just thinking it was about getting votes for a contest and said she didn’t know what was going on until I got on one knee. The Braxton’s had to wait because they couldn’t get her off me backstage. LOL Thanks again for posting and you’re invited to join us in Montego Bay, Jamaica!

Lovely affair – it was obvious that Preston put a lot of thought and planning into pulling this off! Ms Lisa is very charming and I noticed that she was able to get that ring in most of the shots in the video.
