Leonard was out of town for six weeks (He’s in the Air Force, remember?) and I counted the days until he got home. I tried to keep myself busy with wedding planning and work, but I missed him very much. So I was elated when he finally came home this week. I had my BFF back and all was good in the world again.
In addition to counting down the days until Leonard came home, I was also counting down the days to our big day. Leonard came home just as we hit the 100 days until the wedding mark and I thought we should celebrate. In my last year of law school we had a “100 days” party. All the graduating students celebrated having made it thus far and having just over 3 months until we obtained our degrees. So I decided Leonard and I would celebrate by having our 100 days date. In 100 days we’d be husband and wife.
We regularly have date night which usually consists of dinner, drinks and maybe a movie. But this night I decided to shake things up. At the last minute I decided we were going dancing! I put on a cute dress and he shaved and put on a button up shirt (as opposed to the hoodie and baseball cap he was initially planning to wear). Looking very dapper we decided to hit the streets of Los Angeles. In my mind, we looked like a power couple (imagine Jay and Bey except in Ralph Lauren and H&M instead of Tom Ford).
It had certainly been awhile since I had been to a nightclub and going with my future husband made the experience new for me. We talked and laughed and danced (often it was just me dancing while he watched but I felt sexy putting on a show). We’d see something and both laugh at our private jokes. He bought me tacos without me saying I was hungry and found me a seat when he knew my new shoes were starting to cause problems. The music was loud and we were surrounded by people but it was like we were having our own little party, it was a blast.
I’ll admit I might have had a little too much fun. At the end of the night he drove us home and had to pull off my shoes when I was so exhausted — and slightly intoxicated — that I just laid across the bed fully dressed. It’s clear that my days of club hopping and partying all night are gone. Leonard keeps reminding me that my tipsy level after two drinks (half of which he drank) officially made me a light weight. But I was happy to have my friend back and happy that we spent the evening together having fun. I was also happy that he obliged me when I made up the term “100 days date” and insisted we turn up!

Love a good date night and loving your road to Mrs. blogs!
Nicole that was way too cute and sweet. You and my brother give me hope that it’s still out there. (Hugs/kisses) Can’t wait to see y’all
Your written accounts are so vivid, I really enjoy reading them. 100 days goes by in a flash, blink and you’ll miss it. All the very best to you.
Love, love, love this! You looked super cute, too.
@bianca – I LIVE for date night.
@Donna – thanks, can’t wait to see you too! Counting down…
@SD – I’m amazed at how fast the time is going. I have to keep reminding myself to enjoy these little moments.
@heather – Thanks Girl!!
Keep the Road to Mrs. love coming! Oh and Nicole, date night probably won’t stop after you say I Do — which is a great thing. Mr. TK and I went to an event the other night and had a chance to hear a phenomenal live performance, sip on yummy drinks and eat tasty food. We both really, really enjoyed ourselves and loosened up a lot. I didn’t realize how wound up I was (I have a lot of work ish on my plate and mind these days.) prior to Wednesday night. The date was a reminder that life is to be taken one day at a time and there’s always a reason to smile, laugh and truly enjoy my husband.
Another great post Nicole.
