Mars thinks – Perhaps I’ve gotten much more conservative in recent years, but I don’t think there was ever a time that I would have seen this look and said “I gotta have this.” Points are given to anyone that is bold enough to attempt to pull this one off. In fact, I’d like to witness that attempt in person. All joking aside, I’m not really feeling this look. However, I could totally see some younger fashion forward dude owning this look. I’m extremely curious to read the comments for this week’s Mar vs Venus. Let ’em rip!
Venus thinks – Ladies and Gentlemen, salt and pepper! I know what some of you are probably thinking,”That jacket is way too loud!” Nevertheless, it is loud and fabulous! Mars, this may be my favorite men’s pick of the year and it’s only April. I can certainly see this as a groom’s ceremony look, especially for the spring. Guys, it’s a risk worth taking. Just do me a favor, please don’t swap out the black pants for white. DON’T DO IT! I do not suggest white shoes either. For this look it’s essential that you keep both the shell and tie/bowtie solid. The only thing this jacket needs is a body in it and possibly a handkerchief. Great pick, Mars!
Check out what Mars and Venus had to say about last week’s bridal shower look here.
Not feeling this look for any occasion.
This looks like a guy in a black suit got caught in a surprise snow storm. Nope, I couldn’t wear this under any circumstances.
@Anthony – LMBO, re: the surprise snowstorm… Not a personal fave look of mine but I think it works for a certain kinda groom i.e. – Puff circa late 1990s.
Keep the comments coming!
I first thought something was wrong with my laptop. Then I didn’t like it. Then after looking for a few minutes I didn’t dislike it so much. Now I agree with Cousin Mars as far as a younger, fashion forward man owning this look. I would love some bold color choice in tie and handkerchief, purple, cobalt blue, mint green, pink or red, to truly set it off. I love outside the box.
I have side with Venus. I think, worn correctly, this could be EVERYTHING!
When I look at it I see a blue and black suit and my wife sees white and gold?? Seriously, why do you have to be Prince or Usher to wear something like this? For your wedding, why not? I wouldn’t wear this to someone else’s wedding, but if its my special day (yeah, I said it!) I would rock it! It’s different, sharp, and special. It’s got my name all over it…
Um, I’m going to have to agree with Mars on this one. Looks like Willy Wonka let the oompa loompa’s decorate this jacket with powdered sugar and then they got bored and left. #menolikey
Well, I knew this was one that would receive several comments. I also expected a few shots/jokes to be taken. You have all read my opinion. I’m actually waiting for Venus to defend her stance a bit more.
i’m probably the oldest guy on this site (so it should hurt for me to admit this) but i’m going to play the old “fuddy duddy on this one: weddings are not the time for a groom (or bride, for that matter) to “go long” on self expression. weddings are about tradition, about the past joining–not breaking wit–the present and the future.
this is too much for the ceremony, but if you must–drag it out on the dance floor for the celebration.
let the chips fall where they may.
I’m not sure about this one… looks like it belongs on a Michael Jackson mannequin or something.
