If you ever wondered what “…in sickness and in health” meant, please watch this video featuring married couple B. Smith and Dan Gasby.
This morning I watched an interview of B. and Dan on the Today show discussing this topic and helping to bring awareness to World Alzheimer’s Day. While the entire segment was engaging and heartfelt, my biggest takeaway was from Dan. He shared, ” It is easy to be a boyfriend or a husband. But to be a caregiver…To watch a person go through this…And to learn the biggest lesson there is, patience…That’s the toughest thing.”
Marriage isn’t just about posting cute pics on Facebook or Instagram. This is the kind of stuff that makes marriage vows so sacred; to me anyway. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
God bless them!
So few outlets bring attention to this devastating disease maybe because it is so painful and widespread. Anyone touched by it in any way feels helpless most of the time. More needs to be done and learned by all. We can start with nutrition and support for sufferers and caregivers. I will definitely purchase this book. Thank you for highlighting it Triple B, it is an important subject in my family and life.
