I first learned of the “Basket of Firsts” for newlyweds at my girlfriend’s bridal shower. It was a bona fide hit — so incredibly thoughtful! It featured bottles of bubbly labeled First New Year’s, First Anniversary, New Home, First Baby (sparkling cider instead of wine) and even First Fight. In total in Italy the basket contained about 7 or 8 bottles and each contained a heartfelt note about the occasion in which it would be popped. 

Head to Target, Micheal’s, Hobby Lobby, Tuesday Morning or even your local 99 Cents store to purchase a large basket and tulle to fill it with (the tulle is both decorative and functional as it prevents the glass bottles from hitting each other). Below are a few ETSY resources I discovered that offer pretty labels for this type of gift. If you’re really feeling crafty, throw on your DIY hat and create your own labels! TIP: I have found tasty and super-affordable wine at Trader Joe’s.
