Gregory Porter might make proposing a little less stressful with his touching song, Good Hands.

I’ve gone through most of my life hearing folks tell me I have an old soul. I’m not sure if this is true but my taste in music certainly reflects this notion. I’ll take Earth, Wind & Fire over modern-day R&B any day. But every now and again, a new artist comes along that reminds me of the soul music I fondly remember hearing during my childhood. Don’t you love the way music can instantly transport you to a time and place?

My cousin (he and I have sat around and critiqued Nas lyrics for hours) recently put me on to Gregory Porter. I had never heard of the brother. Clearly I’m late to the party since Gregory Porter is a Grammy-award winning jazz singer with a huge following. Anyhoo, my cuz recommended the entire album, Be Good, but asked that I listen to track number 4, Good Hands, first. The songwriting is honest, the horn composition is soothing and the subject matter is timeless. I have a feeling many fellas will be playing this track for their future mother and father in law before proposing for years to come. Enjoy and leave me a comment with your thoughts!
