Triple B recently had the opportunity to preview Nina’s latest Bridal Collection. Stunning wedding gowns and bridal accessories for every blushing bride were on display. Nina’s showroom also featured a panel discussion on the bridal industry today, the latest bridal trends and designers collections.

The panel featured designers, Jenny Yoo and Matthew Christopher along with Andrea Wasserman, national bridal director for Nordstrom. Yoo is best known for her easily convertible style dresses that’s available in a number of patterns and hues. Christopher, knows just when to add embellishment and embroidery. Wasserman, has become a go-to-designer for classic wedding gowns.

Yoo and Christopher both gave bloggers, journalists and editors informative insight into the creative process of their designs. “I get my inspiration from different brides out there,” said Yoo. “In terms of styling I try to look at the individual styles of brides [from] glamour to understated elegance.”

Christopher uses a similar approach when searching for ideas. “Listen to the brides,” he said. “It really has educated me to understand the trends.” With the rise of social media outlets and blogs, designers can search online to discover what real people are looking for. “For us, understanding what is going on in the age group [that’s] getting married today —the millennial— we are looking to everything we know about them as people,” said Wasserman.

The question, “Whatever happened to the traditional bride?’ was brought up during the discussion. As Tie the Knot Tuesday regularly shows, brides today are going for a more modern look with their wedding dresses and they want to be different, they don’t want to look like an ordinary bride. Now, more brides are opting for neutrals, greys, pinks and other unexpected colors on the color wheel. Said Yoo, “Brides are open to doing prints, cutouts; lengths are going back up and are ready for color.”

The modern bride wants to express herself through every little detail from her dress down to her shoes. It’s all about having their own look for the big day. For many brides, social sharing sites like Pinterest have become the place to go for tips on styling bridal wear. Wasserman explained, “Brides want help [with] how to put together that look.”

After the panel, I went to look at the gowns up close and one that caught my eye was designed by Matthew Christopher. It was an off-white A-line ball gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline and a fitted corset inside the dress. The “Poppy” dress also had a lace design throughout.

For this part, Yoo, had another stunning number, the Hathaway Gown is a tulle dress that can be worn several ways. For the bride-to-be, this convertible dress can either be worn either strapless or one shoulder even as a blouson wrap.

Each gown featured at the showroom was styled to perfection with Nina’s accessories. From elegant birdcage veils, exquisite crystal necklaces and earrings, each accessory had its own unique touch. Nina’s accessories are a practical yet stylish option for brides. Their collection is affordable plus brides can create their own individual look through accessories.
