MARS thinks – Perhaps I should start by informing you that I am totally biased here. I have a huge crush on Taraji P. Henson. I mean HUGE. With that out of the way, I’ll begin. The star of Empire looks great in this dress. This dress hugs all of the right spots which suggests that not all body types would garner applause. I think this look would be great for a wedding and/or wedding reception guest. It is definitely subtle and allows shoes and accessories to create a “POP.” Ms. Henson chose to wear black shoes and neglected to model attention grabbing jewelry, but you don’t have to make the same decisions.
VENUS thinks – Taraji is working this look for the Empire premiere! I appreciate her pulled back hair which compliments her metallic style midi. Certainly less is more! Although I believe she could have done a little more with the shoe maybe a black or silver closed toe pump instead? What do you guy thinks? This is the perfect look for a reception guest specifically outdoor nuptials. Metallic is great for the winter but it may be a little chilly for the bare arms and bandeau strap.
Hot dress! I loved Empire. One episode and I’m already hooked!!!
The dress is pretty plain, but I think she pulls it off. I actually like the look. As for Empire – NOT GOOD (in my opinion).
Nice dress and she wears it well. I feel the look needs something to complete it. I side with Venus on choice of shoes, metallic for sure.
What I love most about this dress is that it’s sexy and age appropriate! Taraji looks fab. But I agree with you Janee, the shoes left me wanting for more. But not too much more, because a flashy shoe would compete with the dress. Not feeling the hair either. I wish it was a bit more pulled together. The somewhat messy bun action isn’t working for me. And she needed a pop lip color. The nude is too neutral.
Let’s just say I’ve seen Taraji in better but that’s just my opinion. Thank you guys for weighing in!
Thanks for the comments. It appears as though we all like Taraji, but many of us aren’t tin love with this look. I’m cool with that.
Insightful comments! I agree with the general sentiment here: Dig Taraji (she’s like a homegirl in my head) but definitely feel I’ve seen her look better on the red carpet. The shoes, jewelry and hair are just eh. I happen to like the dress a lot and think it is flattering on her but actually don’t think it is wedding guest appropriate for most because of the cut-out.
