This must be the summer of love. With LeBron and Savannah preparing for a lavish wedding weekend this September, Amar’e Stoudemire tying the knot to the mother of his children Alexis and Dwayne Wade acknowledging his beautiful Black queen Gabrielle Union on national television, there must be something special brewing up in those locker rooms. Or perhaps the fellas have been getting relationship advice from the happily married all-star point guard Chris Paul. Next up to the altar? Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has also popped the question. His fiancé and WNBA player, Monica Wright, of the Minnesota Lynx confirmed their engagement last Sunday after her team’s victory over Phoenix Mercury. The two ballers — both from the Washington, DC area — were known for their close friendship after meeting for the first time in the McDonalds High School All-American in 2006, however there weren’t any major signs of a romantic relationship recorded by the media. What a coincidence that Durant is engaged to a Monica Wright. This also happens to be the name of the same character played by actresse Sanaa Lathan in the beloved motion picture Love & Basketball.
