Admit it: Either you, your sorority sister or co-worker is always on the hunt for a new bakery for someone’s bridal shower, wedding or anniversary celebration. And who couldn’t benefit from having another fab cupcake resource on their radar? For Triple B’s Cupcakes, Cocktails & Conversation in Harlem last month, the yummy cupcakes were provided by Sydney’s Sweets and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The red velvet with cream cheese frosting were my favorite but Sydney’s Sweets also has more creative flavor options like peanut butter and jelly, pina colada and caramel white chocolate. There are even vegan and gluten-free varieties available by special order.
Based in Long Island, NY, Sydney’s Sweets is the brainchild of Howard University grad Sydney Perry and her husband Jermaine. The power couple launched this biz in 2006 and last year opened their first retail location — a chic cupcake boutique in West Hempstead, Long Island — in 2013. Sydney’s Sweets grew from a hobby run out of her parent’s home to a thriving cake studio. Her clients now include WE TV and Hot 97 FM (NY tri-state area). The hardworking mom of an adorable toddler son maintains that despite growth, Sydney’s Sweets will stay true to the core values which is to produce cakes that taste even better than they look.
The price of cupcakes start at $2.50 and cupcake wedding favors start at $3.50. Custom cakes start at $100 but prices vary widely based on design and size preferences. SS also offers ‘wedding cake rentals’ starting at $160. The cake is fake but decorated with real fondant. There is an insert of cake in the back so couple can take the picture cutting into the wedding cake. Awesome option for budget brides!
As always, if you reach out to Sydney, be sure to mention Black Bridal Bliss sent ya!

Pretty cake!
Very unique!
These are some of the best cupcakes you will taste! I had the pleasure of having Sydney’s Sweets provide a red velvet, 100-cupcake tower and cake for my daughter’s baby shower and other than the mom and pop-to-be, this was the hit of the event.
Also, the lemon cupcakes are to die for.
Keep it coming, folx!
