Thinking outside the wedding ceremony program box.

Boy have I missed you all. This week’s pick is something I’m seriously contemplating adding to my wedding ceremony. Mr. TK and I are considering nixing traditional programs and opting for one large “program” for guests to view as they arrive. (Check out the above image for a reference.) Here are our top reasons:

  • Having one central place for guests to view the program is not only a cost-cutter but it is green.
  • Tell the truth: Who really keeps wedding programs after the big day? I have held on to a select few but I honestly kept them for work-related reasons over sentimental ones.
  • The duties of shuffling through and distributing dozens of ceremony programs is one less thing Mr. TK and I have to worry about delegating to a friend or family member.
  • Too often guests are consumed with the program when they should be paying attention to the ceremony itself. I’ve witnessed this many times.
  • We like to do things a little left. Sue us.

A couple of points to note: I do realize that many people are likely to be disappointed if there are no programs for our wedding. Those folks can join the guests that will be disappointed about there not being favors — in the traditional sense anyway. Something tells me both groups will still have an awesome time. And most importantly, I hope they’ll still be supportive of our union. Oh and we’re gonna pass on the chalkboard style “program” and go with something more in tune with our wedding colors and personalities.

Would you consider this for your big day? Are traditional wedding programs a must in your eyes? Sound off!
