On Monday evening, some of the most celebrated talents in the worlds of fashion, music, film, sports and more gathered in New York City for a super-duper party also known as the Met Gala. The annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the hottest tickets in town. This year’s Met Gala theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Best Dressed Couple: Solange + Alan Ferguson at a Met Gala After Party (see above pic): Truthfully, the Fergusons probably weren’t the best dressed couple at the gala or even the official after parties this year. We just like this picture (and these two together). Sue us.

Best Hair: Ciara We appreciate Ciara’s use of drama; truly embracing the theme. This look is daring, creative and works perfectly with the engaged singer’s strong cheekbones. Kudos to her glam team!

Best Hair (Runner Up) Lupita Nyong’o: If there is one time for celebrities to truly take chances on the red carpet, the Met Gala is it. Bravo, Lupita! And double bravo on setting Vogue straight on the inspiration behind this artistic updo.

Best Makeup Joan Smalls: Part natural, part futuristic glam, all gorgeous!

Best Dress Misty Copeland: Can’t you envision a sexy bride strutting down the aisle in this number?

Dress that works equally as well on the red carpet as it would on a bride: Claire Danes

Runner Up: Jennifer Hudson

Best Look to Inspire Grooms: Idris Elba Because, Idris. (I mean do we really need a reason to include him?)

Runner Up: Nas Because, Queens. (Kanye shrug.)

Strong honorable mention for best dress is…Wait for it…Kim Kardashian West. Love her or loathe her, she looks awesome. Kim got the tech theme right (while so many of her peers did not!) in a custom “sexy robot” Balmain creation. Extra points for the slicked back tresses and blingy Lorraine Schwartz earcuff.
