This "side" knot is a stylish option for the unconventional bride.

While my own hair is currently short and will probably be even shorter for my wedding day, there are many of you who are opting to rock your tresses long for your strut down the aisle. In years past, women were confined to the basic low chignons or predictable high buns that screamed “prom hairdo” but not anymore. The options for updos as of late are modern and fashion forward. No Styrofoam donuts needed: The messier, the better! Here are a few (including the pic above) that I’m feeling at the moment:

Want some forehead coverage with your top knot? Get inspired by this cute Rihanna 'do with long, wispy bangs.
Sanaa Lathan's top knot is clean, classic and chic.
Thandie Newton helped bring top knots to the forefront with this edgy style.
Beauty editor (and former Triple B contributor) Nicole Melton rocks a natural top knot like nobody's business! Gorge option for the naturalista bride.

All of the above looks can be given a more “bridal” feel with the addition of a sprig of baby’s breath or a jeweled comb. And with the strategic placement of a veil, these styles quickly go from Friday date night to here comes the bride.
