Last month my fiance and I took engagement pictures in our New York City stomping grounds. We chose the talented Kesha Lambert to capture the pics. The equally talented Charlene Armstrong did my make-up (I really like how she made my eyes pop!). My fiance — who I’m lovingly referring to as Mr. TK in this post — and I decided to take most of our e-session pics in and around The Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park, located in Inwood, NY. Inwood is just a stone’s throw away from Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan. The Cloisters are in my top fave places in The Big Apple partly because it isn’t on the radar of most folks the way Central Park is and I happen to like that. Fort Tryon Park is also where Mr. TK took me for what I thought was an impromptu date the day he proposed so it will always hold a special significance to us as a couple. I had a really hard time narrowing down selects for today’s (Not Quite) Tie the Knot Tuesday feature. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed taking them.

By the way, I scooped the red peplum dress I wore for the shoot from Rent the Runway. RTR is a great resource for budget brides who want to wear stylish frocks for all the events leading up to the modern wedding without breaking the bank. They even have a Weddings search option on their site.

‘A Couple That Laughs Together’ – My favorite pic. Knowing TK personally, I make great efforts to make him laugh. His laugh is infectious and this pic clearly provides the appropriate visual to hear him laugh when he’s not around. Congratulations to you both. You are one lucky girl! (Sigh, now I have to go smoke a cigarette)
All of them are my favorites and that’s the honest truth! The photographer captured the very essence of you and Mr TK so well. BUT, if I were to single out any of the pics I’d choose the “Bubble Bliss” because you two looked so natural (plus the added special effects, i.e. bubbles) and the “Sweet Spotlight” because you look just like your mother. Of course, the kit and play routine was priceless. Best wishes to you both.

Impossible to choose a favorite. Standouts – Our Time is Sexy. He’s With Me is Sweet. Laugh is lovely and Bubble Bliss is so indicative of how we “just hang” on stoops all over inner cities. OK, I think that’s my favorite. It’s where we commune, You two occupy a very special place in my heart. In the words of Heavy D, “I got nothing but love for you, baby.”
I am so very happy for you too!! Every single picture looks amazing! I would have to say the muscle shot was my favorite. It’s full of love, yet playful, and just so cute. I can’t wait to be a part of your special day.
