Couple: Venus + Malik
Engagement Session Locations: Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School and The National Mall, both in Washington, D.C.

Wedding Location: Tysons Ballroom (Sheraton Premiere) Tysons Corner, Virginia
Backstory: Venus and Malik decided on the idea of shooting part of their engagement session at Theodore R. SHS because it was in that very building where they met. “We decided to wear our school colors orange and blue, and incorporate school related props such as passing notes in class. Malik ran track, and I was on the cheerleading squad, so he wore his letterman jacket (It still fit!),” explains Venus. Malik being silly, decided to incorporate a rope in one photo like Venus tied him up.
The second part of their shoot was completed during the fall at The National Mall in D.C. This concept was Kerry Watson’s because the fall is Venus’ favorite season of the year. She especially loves the colors of autumn with the changing of the leaves to burnt orange, rust, and wine hues. The fall also inspired the couple’s wedding colors (wine, champagne and a hint of burnt orange). Venus and Malik took pictures at the various area monuments and in the foliage while wearing wine and champagne colors.
