The Villas at Aquamare

Earlier this year – while Triple B was still in the womb – I accepted a wonderful invitation to visit the British Virgin Island of Virgin Gorda and stay at the exclusive Aquamare resort. I’ve done my fair share of traveling but Aquamare is on a different echelon from anything I had ever experienced. My dear cyberfriends, in a word the place is sick.

Lounge in paradise

I’m not even sure where to begin. Virgin Gorda itself is simply a gorgeous island and void of the commercial feel of hairbraiders on the beach and McDonald’s or Starbucks franchises that have plagued much of the Caribbean. The landscape is breathtaking, the beaches are pristine and the people are uber-friendly. All of these qualities make for a great backdrop to The Villas at Aquamare.

The amenities at Aquamare make it an ideal location to consider for a destination wedding, honeymoon or even vow renewal. With three master bedrooms, one double room, and one studio each villa accommodates up to 12 guests or family members in its own 8,000 foot tropical oasis. You know how usually the images from a resort’s site outshine the real deal? Well at Aquamare, pictures don’t do the experience justice. Here’s a sampling of what one can expect: an infinity pool that overlooks the Sir Francis Drake Channel, access to private beach on property, a fully stocked gourmet kitchen, a courteous staff on hand to attend to your every need, 400-thread count Frette linen, Bulgari toiletries, shucks…I could go on and on.

I’ll admit that for most regular working-class folks like moi Aquamare is a bit pricey….Okay, over the top pricey. (Be prepared for sticker-shock!) But the bottom line is this: If you and your boo are looking for an upscale yet laidback venue that encompasses romance and sophistication for your upcoming nuptials and/or honeymoon, have saved some change and want to splurge on an island getaway, consider Aquamare. You will thank me later.
