Triple B on the scene at the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa

Last month Black Bridal Bliss had the pleasure of spending a fun weekend at the Saybrook Point Inn & Spa in Saybrook, Connecticut. Located between the Long Island Sound and Connecticut River, the quaint, family owned and run, green-friendly property is just about a two and a half hour drive from midtown-Manhattan and filled with rich history. Here are five more exciting reasons we accepted the invitation to experience Saybrook Point Inn & Spa!

1. Memorable Weddings – Saybrook hosts stylish nuptials year-round. This inn overlooks the charming Saybrook Marina allowing a picture perfect backdrop for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. Possibilities for couples are massive, whether choosing to arrive to their ceremony via boat or opting to have cocktail hour dockside. Saybrook’s staff is warm and courteous (not just because we’re press either) which is a huge plus for any wedding venue.

2. Hot Digs – No need to fret over whether your guests will be comfortable staying overnight at Saybrook Point. These luxury hotel rooms include fireplaces (a staff member will gladly light upon request) and spacious bathrooms — especially helpful for bridal parties. For traditional rooms check out the main inn where we stayed. Just across the street is Three Stories Guest House which accommodates up to 16 people — perfect for an intimate wedding, girlfriends getaway or bachelorette festivities! Each of the rooms is named for a prominent figure in Old Saybrook’s past or present. For example, one room is named after pharmacist Anna Louise James who was the first African American pharmacist in the state of Connecticut. She owned a pharmacy and soda fountain for many years in town. Bonus: All the facilities in the main inn are available to those staying at Three Stories.

3. Fine Dining – Delicious cuisine is served daily at the Fresh Salt restaurant (they also provide catering for weddings, rehearsal dinners, farewell gatherings and the like). Seafood lover? You’re really in for a treat. The Srirachi-Style Calamari and Fresh Salt-Style Cioppino are something to write home about. And be sure not to miss their colossal Sunday brunch. Fresh Salt also has a full-stocked bar and offers room service.

4. Amenities Galore – Guests can treat themselves to an inviting range of pampering treatments at the Sanno Spa (We highly recommend their couples massages.) or take a dip in the indoor or outdoor saltwater pools, relax in the steam room or sauna, or take a fitness class at the gym all located in the main inn.

5. Easy Breezy Living – The Saybrook area is an ideal retreat for city dwellers craving a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of home. For those who prefer public transportation, the Old Saybrook Point Metro North Train stop is just ten minutes from the inn and there’s a complimentary shuttle that picks guests up and drops them off. There’s also a convenient shuttle service to the town’s Main Street area filled with laidback cafes, boutiques and such. About a thirty minute drive away are two large outlet malls where you can shop until you drop — Clinton Crossing Premier Outlet Shopping Mall and Tanger Outlets.
